I have a business one aswell but I've had this for years from previous businesses, I think setting up a personal account would be fine to begin with for the Affiliate Programs and as/when your business expands you could upgrade to the business account if required :-)
Hi Brenda.
I have had a PayPal account for around 12 years. I have a business account - purely because I thought as I was earning some money, and declaring tax etc - that it would be better for me.
I think the transaction rates for personal and business are slightly different - but not greatly.
I do use mine for personal and business use - it's quite easy from their statements to separate out what you've been buying on ebay next to what you've been earning as a business.
All the best, Mark
IMO - if using a business acct (version) there might be some credits that can be used / calculated in doing the tax filing (assuming USA + 1040) business expenses, even the little amounts canal add up
good to keep track of all of them
if part of my thinking is not on target pls update or feel free to add yoru two cents
you can get either one, I have a business and I am not a large business. If you are having affiliate links use a business name. If you start to sell on ebay a business name is better. I am AMG Enterprises which makes me look like a big company to everyone I do business with.

Hi, I use a personal account with Paypal mainly for ebay sales, but also for purchases including WA fees.
Make sure you register a bank account with Paypal and that they do a ping. Cheers Mike
Mike thanks, ok what does a ping mean?
Brenda
Hi - "ping" - it just means that they'll take a penny (or a very small amount) from the bank account or card that you link to your PayPal account - so ensure that it has been setup correctly.
Cheers, Mark
good info Mike.
Thank you Mark as you can tell I have never used it before, that is good to know.
Thanks again, you are a wealth of information and I appreciate it.
Brenda
Hi Brenda - thank you for the comments - that's very kind. I'm just glad I was able to help a little.
All the best, Mark
