My Affiliate journey
I wanted to write a blog post because I wanted to encourage others if they get lost in this process and it was an assignment in Level 2 Lesson 10. So, here goes!
I started out really excited and worked very hard at my affiliate program. Since none of you know me, you can't really understand the depth of commitment. My financial situation was bad and I really wanted it to improve. I tried to absorb everything. I really tried to understand WordPress and the business. Well, there is a lot to understand. But, I thought I would excel at understanding WordPress as I have an IT background. I probably did, but my standard was really high!! I really wanted to understand all of the settings on WordPress Admin page. I would try to watch Kyle's videos many times until I thought I knew what all the settings were. I also wanted to understand why certain settings were recommended. Perhaps, I may have different thought than Kyle or someone else.
As you can probably guess, I got burnt out and my financial situation did not improve!! I started driving for Uber again as I needed more money than my day job was providing. This left me little time to do the business. I kept my account active as I did not want to lose all the work on my site.
I finally came back and it seemed like I forgot EVERYTHING! Really! I thought it was all gone. To be safe, I started going through the course again from the beginning. This time I was more relaxed although I still wanted to understand so much. When I left I thought there was this giant mountain to climb and there is, don't get me wrong, but it is doable!!
Since I came back a lot has struck me. My site although not great by any sense is much better than I remember it. It surprised me!! Also, I forgot that I changed the theme just before I took my break and it looks much better. Let me give you some advice. If you get nothing else out of this, please get this!!!
If you are getting stuck and you are asking people to help and the wheels are just spinning, please be aware some themes are much easier to work with than others!! When I switched themes I remember that it flowed much better after that and things came together easier!! Seriously, if you are trying and banging your head against the wall, seriously, another theme may do the trick!! No joke!!
So, where am I now? Well, I am still going through the courses and trying to get all the pieces to fit. I think of this business as a jigsaw puzzle and I really working understanding how things fit together. I just got my Amazon Affiliate account yesterday and I am improving my site. I still have LOTS of questions, but you don't need to understand it all at once. Even if you miss something in the training, ask someone as everyone is so helpful in here. I was debating if I should put my web site in the post, as I don't the fact that it does not have a lot of content. I am going to do it. If you look at it shortly after this post, go easy on me. It will get better. I think it looks nice.

It is amazing how things will fall into place you have raised some really valid points, it can be easy to burn out especially if we are not seeing results, sometimes we just have to stand back and pat our selves on the back for what we have created and what we have learned, thanks for sharing your insights.
Thank you for your words of encouragement. I know I have to stick with it and I will make this work. It is true, we can be too hard on ourselves and then not appreciate what we have achieved. Thanks again.
