Create Your Own Wikipedia Book
Did you know that you can create Wikipedia books that can be printed and sold? Sound too good to be true? It's true!
I was writing about basic map skills and was becoming overwhelmed with the details that I had kind of dimissed in my head as I conceptualized writing about the topic, and remembered that I could compile Wikipedia articles into a book and actually have it published!
Originally I created on for my son who had joined the Army and was going to be stationed in Germany. I was stationed there myself many moons ago, but knew exactly the things he should know but had too little time to put it all together myself. I went to Wikipedia, gathered the material and in short order published him a personalized Wikipedia book about Germany and where in particular he was going to be staioned. It was one of our going presents to him in fact.
So I simply took that past experience, tweeked it a bit, and made a guide (or book) to accompany what I was writing about with regard to map reading skills.
Anyhow, just throwing this up there to get YOUR gears turning about how you too can create a book to go along with what you are writing to both enhance the user experience on your website, and to possibly make a little profit along the way!
Cheers,
Prepper Pete!

I did one on Led Zeppelin a while ago. It works ok, but gets expensive if you include too many pages.

BTW you look like you and I are of the same generation... Is it just us, or was Led Zeppelin the best rock and roll to ever hit the stage? I mean in my book,,, no one else even comes close!
Don’t think there’ll ever be anyone quite like them again, Pete.
I just did my Led Zep book for my own enjoyment. I never ever considered selling it.

Ps.
Better remove links here and put under your profile under 'follow me on'. People will find there. Here it is considdered spam
I forgot and thanks. I was just jazzed about it and wanted to prove I did it, but yeah... rules are rules :) Sadly... Done :(
Wasn't my intention at all. Too bad they don't have something to accommodate "showing off" that is seperate from the website itself though. I get the effort to keep WA focused on what it is supposed to be focused on, but would it hurt to stand up a subsite (that no one probably would go to anyhow) to allow folks to blurt it out?
Anyhow, mine was just typing fast to keep up with my thoughts, what i just mentioned was more about loosening the grip a bit on the rules without ruining the website :)

I didn't know about Wikibooks before, there are lot of potentials here!
Thanks for sharing this great tip :)
Yes indeed!
