It sounds completely doable. I've read quite a bit about writing an ebook and then selling it. The biggest thing I'd say is to do your niche research/find out what kind of books are selling within your chosen genre. The second biggest is not to limit yourself to kindle or amazon. There are tons of distribution platforms and different audiences that you can take advantage of in the ebook publishing world.
A blog site is the perfect marketing tool to draw people to you and your ebook. Good luck!
