Excellent List of Directories for Registering yourwebsite business.

Recently, I found a list of directories for registering your business and getting your website better rankings with Google, Bing, and everything else. It is a little time consuming, but seems to be an excellent way to get the word out.

It's called "The Ultimate List: 50 Online Local Business Directories," Hub Spot Blogs came up with this list. Now granted, some are truly local, and have no clue that a business doesn't have to be a brick and mortar biz, and offering only a website is completely forbidden. Skip past them! Also, look for free registrations.

There are plenty. I balked when I registered with the Chamber of Commerce and out pops the credit card area with a $179 yearly fee. I had to bow out gracefully and assured them I would return when I could justify the expense. I've made it to almost half of the list of 50, and really like some of them. Brown Pages and Manta are two of my favorites.

They ask you for keywords from your websites and for a description of services or products that you offer. They encourage you to get endorsed by other business owners, too. They also have you "claim" your business, and that really gets your rankings going. Anyhow, check it out, let me know what you think!

Hmm, not sure. I always wonder if using directories are really worth it (and from what I've heard from the WA experts, they're probably not). Then again, if it can't hurt...

Kyle already corrected my wrong thinking, he considered this "back linking." But isn't any ad better than no ad? I'm also posting ads in local free classifieds. I need sales.
