I believe there is some confusion here. The IP address that is relevant is that of the computer. It is common to use shared servers. Therefore I believe (correct me if I am wrong) that if you each have a laptop and there are 4 people in a family then each of them would be able to create an account, but only one account per PC or Mac.

I'm afraid as others have said, WA only permits the creation of a single account per computer and IP address, ie. same wifi network, etc. So, for example, you shouldn't log on to WA from someone else's computer to demo WA if they want to be able to sign-up afterwards themselves. It's to prevent gaming. The simplest workaround is to create the account from another computer and IP address, ie. a mobile phone or tablet on a 3G or 4G network (not the same wifi) or use a mate's computer, internet cafe, library, etc. Your sister or girlfriend will then be able to login, even if it's then the same computer or IP address. :) Rich.

That makes sense. Thanks Rich

So if for e.g. our son who lives with us and uses our internet connection, wants to join WA and create his own account he won't be able to do it.He would have to go elsewhere to join?

It doesn't matter then how many people are sharing a network only one account could be created? Everyone else would have go somewhere else to join?

What happens if a second person does go somewhere else to join, and afterwards continues to use, as they would, their usual connection; does the system recognise that their are two accounts coming from the same public IP address?

Which IP address does the system see, the public one or the private internal one?

Sorry for all the questions, but it all seems a bit odd to me. After-all, the message said that the 'email already existed on the system' not that an account already existed using this IP address or network.

As I said. You cannot CREATE accounts from the same IP address or computer. It is to prevent gaming, ie. someone joining and then creating hundreds of fake sign ups to get the $1 referral commission for each fake account. If you want confirmation of this, simply PM either Kyle or Carson and ask them. Rich.

OK. I meant using a different computer, sorry I should have made that clear.

It still leaves the question - which IP address, the public or the private one?

If it's the public one then that would mean that only one account can be created from that network regardless of how many different computers are on it.

Or am I missing something?

Edit: I'll ask Kyle or Carson.

You are asking for information that would help anyone who reads this and wants to try and game the system. I again urge you to contact Kyle or Carson if you want to discuss the implementation of the WA security protocols. Rich.

Hmm...OK I'll do that although I'm asking reasonable question. And I was responding to the original question. Other people may have the same problem and ask the same question.

However if you feel this shouldn't be talked in public then the conversation stops here, as far as I'm concerned anyway.

Yes, several Members including myself answered the original question correctly and I gave a workaround. However, if you want any further info. on the WA security protocol then the best advice is to contact Kyle or Carson. Rich.

I don't want to fall out with you or anyone on here, but, with respect, neither you or anyone else has answered the question fully.

I will ask Kyle and Carson as I raised questions that deserve an answer.

You haven't fallen out with anyone as far as I'm concerned. However, I believe we did answer the original question fully and in such a way that Amber (wldnwkkd) would be able to proceed. However, I'm sure you can appreciate I am not going to give out details publicly that might assist anyone trying to game the system. If someone has a legitimate need for such information, then they may ask Kyle and Carson, which is what I have suggested you do. They can then decide if releasing that info. to a Member is warranted. It probably hasn't occurred to you but in some countries $1 is sadly more than the average daily wage and internet cafe gamers are a nightmare when they arrive here, polluting the timeline with hundreds of fake posts simply to make the dummy accounts look active. Rich.

You know nothing about me so don't assume that I'm not aware of what people are paid in some other countries!

I will ask Kyle or Carson. Now let it go.

Aw, fantastic. We got there. :) Rich.

I have also responded to you via private message. There was heavy gaming when we allowed this and we have sophisticated knowledge now and blocking place if gaming is taking place.

Did you find out what the problem was? I'd be surprised if it was the IP address. If it says the email account already exists then that is the problem. It sounds more likely that somehow your email address was being used in the sign up process.

I'm a little confused though as you say you sent the info to her in an email even though she was in your house. If she was in your house then why send her an email?

lol, Steve, she was checking her email at my house. I had sent it to her a couple of days before that.

Digger.. thanks

Thanks. That's what I thought. Sad to say, but some of my friends and even family, have the attention span of a hummingbird. Having her here, I felt better about helping her find our community.

Hi, you both cant join on the same ISP address, to protect us all from multiple accounts, gaming etc.

My sister is starting over from scratch and her husband got the computer in the divorce. That's hardly multiple accounts. That's more a victim of circumstance.

No idea what you mean about your sister, you mentioned your friend. I was just answering your question, same ISP address, more than one account is multiple and people try to game the system. :-)

Hi. It's the IP address. Have her try it from her computer. You can certainly navigate her around WA through your account but if she wants to sign up she should be able to do so from home. Hope this helps.
