Buying domain, Hosting at WA and siterubix.com

For the last few weeks I have seen many questions about Buying and Hosting domains at Wealthy Affiliate. The first thing to understand is what a domain is.

In the online business a domain is a name that starts with www (fullstop) Your domain name typically be www.yourdomain.com.If you buy a domain you become the owner of a real estate in the online world where you are the ruler of that domain. You can set your own rules and rule the domain name you bought.

Wealthy Affiliate does not sell any domains. If you want to buy a domain you have to buy it from outside registrars like Hostgator, Namecheap, Bluehost and Godaddy. Many of these companies offer coupon codes that you can use to buy domains at a very cheap rate. You can google for them.

As a free member you can have 2 domains at a time. You can delete and build a new one but never can have more than 2 sites at a time. But free members can not host any domain bought from outside. If you work really hard you can up and set up your site for online earnings. You can use your site for 30 days if you do not upgrade to premium membership. All of these domains have siterubix.com at the end.

Siterubix.com is owned by WA. When you have a free site with siterubix.com at the end it means you have actually a subdomain which is under siterubix domain.

Premium members can have more than 2 free sites with the siterubix.com at the end. Also premium members can have own domain and unlimited hosting. That saves hosting expenses. For example you can have yourdomain1.com, yourdomain2.com, yourdomain1.net, yourdomain1.org etc. etc. But if you cease to be a premium member you will have 60 days to remove all of your domains from WA hosting.

Wherever you buy your domain you need to change your name server from that company's Domain Name Server (DNS) with Wealthy Affiliate DNS. When it is done you can start building your website here. Usually it takes some time. For changing the DNS, in every case you need to log-in to your account in that company to change the DNS and point it to WA DNS. If you find any difficulty and you are sure you did all the things needed, you can open a support ticket from the place you are trying to build your site in WA.

Easy to understand for the newbie!

I can see that there is much for me to learn! Domains, hosting, DNS,....

What is meant by "you have 30 days to do that" in terms of setting up a site for online earnings? There is a time limit?? It was my understanding that this could take time and this is the first I am seeing of a 30 day limit. Please explain to this newbie? :)

There is no time limit on setting up free domains

@ Craig, thank you. I have corrected the line. Actually I meant starter user can have access to the site for 30 days.

@anewdawn, actually I meant you can access your website according to your starter membership validity. If you upgrade to premium, you will have your website created in starter membership. In addition to that you will have unlimited hosting at WA during your premium membership. YOu can then buy your own domain and host it here.

thanks

Thanks for the simple explaination

Glad that it helped.

Thanks very much. All this new lingo...thanks for clearing up some of my questions. :)

Glad it helped.

Site building is fun here at the WA. Your blog is very helpful. Thank you.

Thank you. I know you always inspire. Take Care.

Nice article and very clarifying. Now everybody understands how it works. I always buy paid domain hosting from weloveourhost and free accounts from freeola.

Thank you Richard. It is inspiring to know that it helps. Other than test purpose it is always a good idea to buy a paid domain, that is the way I feel.

Does a siterubix.com site disappear after 30 days or did I misunderstand?

I am not sure. Please send a PM to Kyle.

Once your membership expires, The sites are accessible for 30 days.

Thank you @Craig, last time I heard from Kyle 60 days for the premium member. Not sure if it is still valid for Premium Members.

Does a free membership expire?

Yes, it expires after 30 days.

NO, the FREE membership doesn't expire. But there are limitations that include the inability to communicate with the membership after 7 days.

Thanks Willow. I was just thinking about this today and voila! here is the info I needed. WA continues to amaze me with the wealth of knowledge found here.

Great to know it helped. Let me know if you need a hand with anything.
