Is affiliate marketing hard?

First, we must ask what is affiliate marketing online? In simple terms, Affiliate Marketing is a performance-based marketing process in which you earn a commission by promoting other people’s (or company’s) products. You simply find a product you like and recommend it to others. The company then gives you a commission for that recommendation.

Is affiliate marketing hard? Well, that all depends on your level of understanding of Affiliate Marketing. Anything worth doing in life will be extremely hard but, it will also be extremely rewarding in the long run. For this reason alone many who try affiliate marketing tend to give up before they generate any type of results.

Let me talk about my personal experience of giving up things because I thought they were too hard. A few years back I was visiting a friend who plays the guitar in Japan. I went to go see his live performance and immediately thought to myself “how cool would it be to learn the guitar”. When I got back to America the first thing I did was to buy a guitar. I spent a couple of days plucking away at it and eventually gave up. I ended up selling the guitar at a loss and used some of the money to buy a camera.

This is when I started travelling to South Korea and documenting my travel experiences for my blog. It was the most amazing time of my life and I can’t wait to go back after the pandemic. For most of my trip, I was in auto mode when I took photos because I didn’t learn how to take pictures or even work the camera. When I got back to America I went around and took a few pictures for the first couple of months. I started to learn how my camera worked and quickly became overwhelmed. I set the camera down and didn’t touch it for 6 months.

I got super mad at myself for quitting and I decided to just try again and stick with it no matter what! I made it my priority to learn the ins and out of my camera. I did whatever it took to learn. Every day after work I would spend 3 hours taking pictures and training my eyes. I eventually was I able to develop a unique style and gained 15k followers on Instagram. I’ve worked with many brands and artist around the world and I even have some of my photos as album covers for a couple of artists. If I had given up a second time I wouldn’t have everything I have today. I owe everything that I’ve accomplished and experienced to that camera.

Why am I talking about my camera? Well Just like many people during the pandemic I decided to try and learn a new skill. I love eating and didn’t want to risk ordering out so, I wanted to learn new cooking techniques and recipes.

At first (just like photography), it was very hard and tedious work but after a while, I started to put my spin on recipes I picked up. Because I didn’t give up photography I was then able to take amazing photos of my food creations. This brought out a whole new side of me that my friends and family had never seen. Everyone was impressed with the work I had done and couldn’t believe I was able to cook the way that I did.

So although Affiliate Marketing is hard and can be overwhelming at first, I guarantee that if you stick with it, you would eventually figure it out. As time goes on the more experienced you'll be and eventually, you'll good at it. You will remember those early days of your endeavours and laugh at the silly question “is Affiliate Marketing hard?”

This is my second time jumping back into Wealthy Affiliate. The first time I didn’t truly understand nor did I appreciate the opportunity in front of me. Now I am a little older with more life experience and I promise that I won’t make the same mistake twice.
