Over the next 12 Days I've decided I'm going to write about

Principles of Personal Achievement

To kick things off I thought a great starting point would be defining your purpose or "BECAUSE".

1) Define Your Purpose or “BECAUSE”

Is it easy for you to wake up in the morning or is it hard for you to wake up in the morning? Chances are the answer to that question directly relates to your purpose...or lack there of.

When you wake up in the morning with a purpose, it’s a lot easier to getout of bed and start your day with energy.

If you wake up in the morning without a purpose, it’s much more difficultto get out of bed and start your day at all and especially difficult to start your day with energy.

Yes part of how you feel in the morning has to do with when you went to sleep, what you eat and more. However, a lot of the feeling you have in the morning has to do with your purpose or lack thereof.

There are so many reasons that it’s important to have a purpose, butthe first one is that it will get you out of bed. You will be driven. When you have a purpose, you have a real reason that you’re chasingsomething.

It’s hard to chase your dream if there’s no real purpose to it. On theother hand, it’s easy to chase your dream if there is a real purpose behind it.

I’ll give you some examples to help you better see the full picture...

Imagine that you want to build your own ice cream shop. There will be lots of work involved.

It will start with finding a lawyer, doing some legal work, finding investors to invest in your ice cream shop, finding a location for your ice cream shop, finding architects and/or designers for your ice cream shop, creating marketing materials, setting up online and offline ads and once you’re open dealing with the millions of day today tasks of running the business.

You want to build this ice cream shop, but it was just a cool idea you had so you’re pursuing it. There’s not much more to it.

You thought it was a cool idea, so you’re moving forward with it.Now, here’s another scenario...

Imagine that you want to build your own ice cream shop.

There will be lots of work involved. It will start with finding a lawyer, doing some legal work, finding investors to invest in your ice cream shop, finding a location for your ice cream shop, finding architects and/or designers for your ice cream shop, creating marketing materials, setting up online and offline ads and once you’re open dealing with themillions of day to day tasks of running the business.

You want to build this ice cream shop BECAUSE you need to make more money to pay your bills.

Or you want to build this ice cream shop BECAUSE your aunt is dying and needs money to pay for a surgery that she can’t afford. You wantto make enough money to pay for her surgery.

Or you want to build this ice cream shop BECAUSE you want to take your family and friends on a trip.

Or you want to build this ice cream shop BECAUSE you love ice cream so much. Ice cream is a passion of yours. You love the different flavors. You love the refreshing feeling of eating ice cream.

Or you want to build this ice cream shop BECAUSE you want to help make kids happy and you know that you can do so with your ice cream shop.

The ice cream shop scenarios are a bit odd, I’ll admit. Here’s the point though...

In order to be successful, you need to have a purpose. If you don’thave a purpose, you won’t be motivated.

Did you see how many things need to be done in order to successfully create that ice cream shop? Do you realize how many more things would need to be done in order to successfully keep that ice cream shop up and running and hopefully growing?

You see, the same relates to mostly everything in life. Nothing comes easy.
There is a lot of work involved in reaching your dreams.

It’s not easy to do a lot of work no matter what the situation is.
It’s especially difficult to work though when you don’t have a purpose.

You need a purpose. Or referring to the points above, you need a“BECAUSE”.

When you have a purpose or “because”, you feel motivated. You feelmotivated because there’s a real reason or reasons that you need to succeed.

If you don’t have those real reasons, then do you really think you will be able to get yourself to do all the work that you need to do to achieve success?

Of course not.

If there’s a real meaning behind what you’re doing though, you wouldbe amazed at how much easier it is to wake up in the morning and fight hard throughout the day each and every day towards your dreams.

That’s why the first principle of personal achievement is defining your purpose or in other words...your “BECAUSE”.

Tomorrow will be all about creating an ACTION PLAN. I'm looking forward to it because as a wise person once said,

Without knowledge action is useless and knowledge without action is futile. Abu Bakr.
