Writing Level 4

My writing level is officially 4/5. Not totally sure what that means but I am having a blast making informational and affiliate posts. I can't wait until I start seeing my posts indexed in google. One goal of mine when I become successful is to mentor others to do the same.

Success outside of the 9-5 world is uncertain and everybody wants to know when they will start making money, how much they'll be making in a month or two months, myself included. But I have the benefit of having been a business owner in the past. I know that you do a lot of work up front for seemingly little benefit.

Whenever I get impatient I remember a story that I was told by one of my mentors.

A man moves to a small farming village after his grandfather passed away. The man had little experience with farming and the few crops that he tried to grow quickly died off. One day as he was going to the village to look for a job to support himself he stumbled across an old man with mules to trade at the market.

The old man seemed to know by the look on the farmer's face what was wrong as they passed. "wait" the old man said as the farmer passed by. "have your crops died?" "How do you know?" The farmer replied, surprised. "Take these and plant them on your farm. You will be happy with the results I promise." "How much do I owe you for these?" Asked the farmer. "Nothing." Replied the old man. "Just let me know how it goes."

When the farmer got back to his farm he planted the strange looking seeds. for a month he diligently watered his plants with no results, not even a sprout. He returned to the old man and asked him what was up with the seeds. "All things in due time." replied the old man. "Just have patience and keep watering the seeds."

Two more months passed and still the farmer had no results. Again he returned to the old man, this time demanding to know why his seeds hadn't sprouted yet. "All things in due time. Just have patience and keep watering the seeds." This went on for another three months. Each time the farmer visited the old man he received the same response. "All things in due time. Just be patient and keep watering the seeds."

On the sixth month with no results the farmer had enough. 'I'm obviously being pranked' he thought. He stormed over to the old man's house and he again he received the same response. Defeated he went back to his house and resolved to go back to his home town and sell the farm for whatever it was worth at this point. As he was walking home it started to rain. He trudged through the mud, up the steps to his patio and slammed the door behind him. That night he drifted off with dreams of moving back to the city.

The next morning he walked out if his home and noticed green everywhere. His crop had finally sprouted! He ran to the old man ecstatic that he was finally seeing results. "What were those seeds?" Stuttered the farmer. "They've finally sprouted!" "They're bamboo." Said the old man, with a smile. "They grow their roots first, reaching down as far as they need, to reach nutrients before the stalk grows. They can grow almost anywhere but it can take a while to see the results. Bamboo is incredibly strong and this village uses bamboo for a number of things. You will make a large profit at the market."

This story comes to mind every time I publish a post or build out content on my site. I hope you guys find it as helpful as I did when it was told to me. Everything worth doing takes time and this is no different.
