Help I must have done something wrong

Last Update: December 19, 2016

I did an amazon giveaway and no one entered. Its kind of like having a party and no one shows up. I think the things I did right were email subscribers and post as much as possible to social media. Possible mistakes, 1. I was going to have people write a comment then send them the link.2. The prize was a book I would enjoy very much but perhaps not right for the audience 3. My social media posts may not have been engaging enough. I would love any feedback. Thanks

What type of lead generation did you create other than the book and did your content in the book target the core needs of your audience. This kind of thing requires research to target your content. I pray you will be able to zero in on it further!

I'm sorry. You don't know much about giveaways; but I can imagine your disappointment. Jeannie

If it's a book, I would assume the "prize" costs no more than $20 and that in itself, IMO, is not very motivating to participate. I wouldn't bother with a giveaway until perhaps later when you're willing to invest more to give away. Just my 2 pennies.

You have to buy at least ten. My site is parent-child advisor. Is there anything in particular you would find as a fun helpful gift. I am just asking. I really want to hear peoples opinions. Thank you for sharing

The following is verbatim from your site: "Winner:Randomly selected after Giveaway has ended, up to 10 winners." It's not clear to me what you mean. Unless you explained it more clearly on social media, I don't know what you're talking about. Also, you just said "you have to buy at least ten." I don't know what you're saying. All I know is that if you're just giving away a book as the prize, I don't think I'd be motivated to enter the giveaway. I'd be more motivated to subscribe to a free Ebook written by you based on your expertise with an alluring title and I'd subscribe and leave a comment to get it. If you insist on the Amazon giveaway, I would have a bigger prize, but have fewer winners. (With fewer winners, you don't have to spend any more money even with a bigger prize. Maybe you can make it a prize package, including the book you insist on as just one of the prizes.)

Thank you for your thoughtful comments. This was part of an amazon giveaway. I did not write the book. It is a book I recommended on another post. You can run a giveaway through amazon but you have to pay for the prizes. I hope that helps. I appreciate your comments so I can make the giveaway clearer if I choose to do it again.

Yes, I did a bit of research earlier on Amazon giveaway, so I know what it is, but I don't think people on social media necessarily know what it is and I don't think what you wrote about it on your site is clear. I think if someone has to go through several steps just to win the giveaway, the "prize" should be more than just a single book written by someone else. On the other hand, if you write a short e-book yourself (which they can't get this e-book anywhere else themselves) and have them subscribe in order to get it, I think it's more likely to have more interest. So IMHO, either increase the prize or write/offer an ebook instead.
