I finally got my first sales with Amazon!

It has been a week of highs and lows for me with Amazon. Recently, I was overjoyed when I saw that I got not one, but four sales which were my first genuine organic sales!

Then a few days later, I was horrified and upset when I received an email from Amazon saying that I have an invalid payee mailing address and therefore my account was rejected and closed. Just like that. Why didn't they inform me first of any "errors" on my address instead of terminating my account?

The first time I wrote to them, they told me that once an account is closed, it cannot be reinstated.

However, I managed to speak to someone on Amazon Live Chat and asked her for clarification because as far as I knew, I had filled up my address correctly. You see, I'm from Singapore and Singapore is a city-state. So, for 'City', 'State, Province and Region' and 'Country', I filled it up as Singapore. That's a total of 3 times that Singapore was used. And because of this, my account was closed.

How else was I supposed to fill up the payee address? Singapore IS the city, state and country. All three! It was unjust to me that they terminated my account with the reason "you did not specify a valid payee mailing address".

To cut the long story short, they reviewed my account again and determined that my previously rejected application is eligible to be reinstated. I can't tell you what a big relief that was! I spent many, many hours on building my links. It would be a pain in the arse if I had to do them all over again.

So if you're an Amazon Associates from Singapore, when you fill up your payee address, leave the 'State, Province and Region' blank to avoid confusion and having your account closed. And make sure all other information provided is correct because Amazon will penalize for the slightest error as you can see from my case.

So my account is all good now and they sent me an email to confirm that my Associates account has been approved. Yippeee!!! I'm finally a full fledged Amazon Associate! Thank you God.

Thanks for reading and have a productive and wonderful day/evening.

Yvonne

Hi Yvonne,
I'm glad you got is sorted, I know how hard you have worked for it and thanks for posting this for others to learn from it,

Thanks Forrest. I don't think I'm working nearly hard enough lol. I have to catch up with you! :)

Congratulations

Thanks Jeta. :)

Big congrats to you. ;)

That's great Yvonne! I'm glad things got sorted out as I know how much hard work you've put into it.
Keep in mind that if you go for the cheque payment method the threshold to actually receive payment is $100 AND they deduct $15 as processing fee which really hurts. Might be better getting the gift card instead and using it to purchase things or sell it to someone who is going to make an Amazon purchase anyway.

Thanks Andy! Wow, $15 is a lot to deduct. Which payment method did you choose?

I will consider the gift card. Btw, to have a US bank account, it has to be opened in the US itself and not from any other countries?

Congrats. Keep up the good work

Thanks Mike.

I got around the problem by having them deposit my money into my US bank account. Haha.

That's great! You're a Singaporean too, right?

Yup :)

I don't have a US bank account so it's either they send me a cheque or Amazon.com gift card. I chose the former.
