Pinterest AI Labels: What You Need to Know
Pinterest now scans pins and if it detects AI was used to create it, then it will put an "AI Modified" label on it which will be shown on the bottom left of that image.
Now the thing is, this detector gets things wrong as it did in my case, where 2 pins were labeled that way and I was doing research to see if it negatively affects my pins and apparently it can.
The good news is that there is a quick appeal process available via Pinterest support where you can get that label removed and the pin/s in question back on track to growing and this short vlog shows you that process. Here's the link to that appeals process:

Now I want to be clear about something, just because this is happening does NOT mean you should stop making AI images or cleansing your pinterest account of it (at least not yet). Ideally make REAL images if you can, that's what I'm doing at least.
Remember, the AI scanner can get it wrong, so I would only take ANY action if a pin you make is incorrectly labeled as AI.

Hi Vitaliy,
This is very useful and so good to see that there is an appeals process that actually works.
I've not seen any of these AI-labeled pins as yet, but I was curious as to the impact of this new Pinterest update.
On another Pinterest issue, what are your thoughts on duplicate pins?
As I've added more and more, I noticed that a couple had been duplicated.
Where I have used the same URL, Pinterest worked it out and grouped the two pins, but there are other instances where each pin, although a duplicate, stands alone.
Would you delete duplicate posts?
Cheers
Cherie
Hi Cherie when in rare amounts (duplicate pins), it's fine and it happens more often than you think, not just with single accounts but the amount of people who use the same exact image on their pins. I would just make sure the title and description of the pin is different and if the pin isn't already performing well, you can always delete it just to be sure.
Thanks Vitaliy interesting to note and funny how in these days of AI they would do such a things as marking it as Ai modified but I guess there may be some images that may have alterative means for the reason to do so.
But certainly great to know even more so ,that it may affect the pin click, visits etc as well so I guess it comes back to trying to use original images as much as possible, especially for Pinterest.
i will now need to look at some of mine and see if I get the message as some are or created by Ai and if so might think about finding a real images to use and replace it at least on Pinterest boards
I am wondering now how other social media places are treating images that is AI modified or creted by AI I am talking aoubt the good ones that look realistic.
Appreciate the knowledge you shared with us as usual
Andre
I can't speak for the other platforms but I think with the whole AI revolution and being that Pinterest is literally an image based search engine, people just started abusing this process and understandably, Pinterest chose to take corrective action to cleanse the system.
Yes that is true but thanks to you we are now more aware than most other
So thanks once again and enjoy your weekend
Hi Vitaliy,
I am not sure if I get it right: we - as pins creators - are we going to see this label? Is it better to check our profile from an unlogged browser to be sure we don't have any AI labelled pin or we can see it right away in our profile (logged in)?
Thanks!
Thank u so much! Until now I did not find any AI label either on my pins or other people's pins! If the rank of AI pins is compromised, I guess 90% of pins created in the last two years will receive less rank? I appreciate though the move toward transparency!
No the only pin an ai label affects is the pin itself, it has no bearing on any other pins not labeled that way or their boards.

Thanks for the heads-up, Vitally!
I had no idea Pinterest started labeling AI-generated images like that — and wow, it's surprising (and a little frustrating) that the scanner can get it wrong. I always created my pins in Canva too, and they ranked pretty well.
Lately, I thought I could relax a bit and save time by using AI, but it looks like I might have to go back to doing it the old-fashioned way. 😅
I appreciate you sharing the appeal link and the reassurance that we don’t need to panic — just be aware and take action if needed. Super helpful post, especially for those of us trying to balance efficiency and staying on Pinterest’s good side!
No problem Alice!
