Learning to finally do something with my life
For a couple of years now I've been fascinated of owning my own business after I read an article of how a high school student became a millionaire by having a website that suited the interests of many people. That being said, I decided to venture into the internet as a money making opportunity.
In 2008, I decided to do just that, but before I did one friend enticed me into joining him on a sales job. That only lasted one week. Then I focused on my internet business venture. In March my friends introduced me to a network marketing business, and I was hooked. However, I put my internet business on hold as I focused on my new business. Two months later, I completely died in it. Loosing over $1,000 dollars I regretted joining simply on emotions.
Later that year I decided to continue my pursuit on the internet. Then in March of 2009, another network marketing business was introduced to me again, and, not learning from my previous mistake, I joined anyways. Although my family knew what it was all about they decided to support me. Two months later, I did something that would make me worry until the end of the year: I quit my job at the mall. For the months thereafter I struggled to make a sale, but without the income from my job, I began to worry, and fell into a depression(not the one where I wanted to kill myself, but the one where I was unhappy and unsure).
I knew it in my heart I no longer wanted to do the business anymore when I began to look for other options.... in the internet. In October I came across a link in the search engines that was very intriguing to me. I checked it out and caught my attention very strongly. It taught how ordinary people can make an income right from home, right from the internet. It was Wealthy Affiliate. But, like my other business ventures, I decided to research it some more and not get into it based on it just looking and sounding good.
The other heartbreaking thing is I was supposed to attend Cal State Fullerton in August, but thought I could make my network marketing opportunity work. I thought I could enroll in January, but I was told, because of the budget cuts, the nest time I could enroll was August..... OF NEXT YEAR. This made my parents very angry, and began to think joining that business was the biggest mistake I could have ever made. The only one I blame is myself.
In December, I finally decided to not pursue the business. I got a job at the mall the month prior. I felt comfortable knowing I would get paid. But sadly, it was a temporary position, and marked January 2010, my last month there. I had to find something, something that would allow me to make money, because I was now interested, no, obligated by and only by myself to join that affiliate teaching school I discovered months ago. How I was going to do that if I barely had any money left in the bank?
Hope came when I received a letter notifying me I was eligible to receive unemployment benefits. I filled that sucker up, and did everything I had to do to receive money to keep me afloat. When that first check came, I decided that the wait was over. For months....no, for TWO YEARS I put off my pursuit of creating an online business, and I wouldn't let anything deter me from doing that anymore. 4 days after I received that check I decided to join Wealthy Affiliate. Now, I have to be focused and take this seriously. I have no job, and not attending school, two things I gave up for that other business.
I pray now, more than ever, that I will become dedicated to do what I said I was going to do after reading that article about that high school student who became a millionaire from a website that suited the interests of many people.
