I'm stuck, Changed my titles to long tailed keywords and now I need help?
I wasn't too sure where to ask this question but here's the dilemma. I've been posting for the past 2 and half months now and have about 40 pages/posts on my site. But all the titles i had were very short and specific. They had low competition keywords and started ranking really well on google. Mostly all on the first and second pages.
But my CTR was very low and bounce rate over 95%. After doing a lot of research i started changing the titles to long tailed keywords but still including my targeted keywords in the title. Now to decrease my bounce rate i changed the theme of my site to more of a blog roll and to hopeful have my visitors stay for longer. Well, it didn't work as i hoped and it has been a week now. I went from averaging 25-30 visitors per day to now barley nothing! I'm confused as to what i did wrong. Do i just wait it out so google ranks my pages again?.......Ready to give up after all this effort.
Would appreciate any advice i can get as i desperately need it :(

Dont change too many things at once. If you do this its hard to find out what works and most importantly what doesnt.
Just change it back to how it was and let it settle for 2 weeks.. After it settles, start making changes.. If the CTR is suffering, alter the meta description. if the bounce rate is an issue, add contextual links in your content as well as the sidebar..if page dwell is an issue, add video to the page
Alright awesome, I was going overboard and trying to solve all the problems at once. I've just changed everything back as to how it was before and just going to wait and try small changes again.
My biggest concern at the moment is CTR so just been working on the meta descriptions and changing titles.
Make titles conversational.... include LSI keywords in meta and a strong CTA.... This should improve CTR
just make sure to make small changes... google dance will take around 2 weeks to settle... dont change anything while its dancing... its googles way of catching you..
Yeah, thats where I think I went wrong cause I made changes to all my posts all at once. Would it make a difference if i start changing it all back now or should I just wait it out before making those changes again?
I started writing headlines that really appealed and drove attention to my pages but I think I already made the big mistake of changing everything at once.
just change your main 10 posts / pages first... these will be the highest performing posts... these are the important ones... let those settle and then change another 10
Alright, thank you. Really appreciate it!
