Domain name i.e. URL cannot be changed - avoid my mistake!

Hi there!

A domain name is something that you cannot change later. What you type in at that moment is what you have to stick with. It is not a too big issue, but I've been told that many people asked the question how to change a domain name and I just wanted to share my experience.

I joined the WA this week and was very motivated to start the training right away. Very soon came the step to make the first website and to choose a domain name.

My mistake was that I've chosen a too specific domain name. I think it was a good match for my niche, but soon I wanted to change my niche, to tweak it to a bit different direction. My domain name just wouldn't work for my new niche.

So, you cannot change the domain name, but luckily you can create the second website for free. And this was my workaround. For the second website, I've chosen a domain name broad enough to support several niches and still specific enough to describe them well.

If you upgrade to Premium, then is this of course not an issue. You are going to get 25 free domains on siterubix.com and you are probably going to buy your own .com domain.

Hope this helps!

Vesna

I too made a mistake and created my domain name too long. I think when starting out it’s important to have a short URL because as you tell people about your site and they go to log on, if you’ve given them a card d e.g. then they have to type the whole thing in. So I think the shorter the better.

I agree. Shorter names are usually catchier.
