Og Mandino - Part 1
Brief Introduction of "The Greatest Salesman in the World"
At the very beginning, the reader is introduced to Hafid, as he slumbers in his palace in Damascus, Syria. To many, Hafid is known as the greatest salesman in the world, whose wealth most could only dream of. But it was many years ago when he was but a camel boy, that he yearned to advance his "lot" from a mere camel boy to a seller of goods, by learning from his employer, the great salesman, Pathros.
Upon hearing his unusual request, Pathros gave Hafid the charge of selling one his finest robes in Bethlehem, a place known for being too poor to be considered by many salesmen, although Pathros himself had sold thousands of robes there. Should Hafid complete this task, Pathros would take him under his wings to guide him. Before departing, Hafid was given these guiding words,
"Failure will never overtake you if your determination to succeed is strong enough."
Was Hafid met by bandits who stole the precious robe? Did fear and doubt consume his thoughts? Did he find a wealthy merchant who offered a handsome price for the robe?
You'll have to read the book to discover the answers...
But, before departing from this world, Pathros did share with Hafid his secret found in 10 scrolls, that was given to him many years ago, as he searched for his own wealth in his youth. Each scroll was to be read 3x a day for 30 days before proceeding to the next scroll. It was the principles in these scrolls that Pathros believed to be far greater than any amount of gold.
What were the secrets that were hidden in the scrolls? Let us commence as we embark on this new journey, unraveling scrolls written centuries ago, with wisdom that expands through the ages...
THE SCROLL MARKED I:
"Today I begin a new life."
"...the only difference between those who have failed and those who have succeeded lies in the difference of their habits...I will form good habits and become their slave."
"Thus, a new and good habit is born, for when an act becomes easy through constant repetition it becomes a pleasure to perform and if it is a pleasure to perform it is man's nature to perform it often."
"And I make a solemn oath to myself that nothing will restart my new life's growth."
Note: Because each scroll is a few pages long, I will only share a few excerpts from each one, and in some cases, share a brief personal note.
As always, I appreciate you reading and adding comments. Tune in tomorrow as we unroll the mysteries of the secret scrolls. Until then...
Strive to Thrive,
Veronica
