The Road to Calvary
The Road to Calvary
The road, long and difficult, to cross and heaven,
The one that to eternity extends,
Rejection, blood , and pain, and love that never
Can be described and understood to its full extent.
“I am ready, O Father,
I am going, give me strength”.
The crown of thorns and pushing, heavy beating,
And body torn by sticks and thongs with iron,
And all hell’s power ready to triumph and meeting
At sacrificial place, at the appointed hour.
“I am ready, O Father,
I am going, give me strength”.
“O Father, how hard it is to look at the crowds.
I know the nature of man. And still how hard.
Those who greeted me with joyful shouts,
When situation changed, shout ,"Be crucified!”.
But I will not allow doubts, for I know,
It’s will of Yours, O Father , and I obey.
The road’s difficult, but help me go
And fully take my cross and thus become the way
For them to You, so that they live forever,
O Father, they know not what they do, forgive”,
For the man who nailed Him, Jesus asked, as ever
He askes, and such love shook heaven and earth…”I give
My spirit to You . It’s finished, My Father.
I go, I go to You”. The dark has fallen on bloody land,
And so have tears of God from tormented heaven. No other
Way would have fit. Son of God has come to the end.
It’s finished . We are reconciled with God.
And Jesus, quintessence of goodness and love
Is still praying for us. Do you make Him the Lord
Of your life? Do you wait Him to come from above?

Hi David
I am really happy you liked this verse. So far I have written more than a hundred verses, if I am able to collect all. But this one is really special because it was fully inspired, as if dictated from above. :))
My sensibility as a writer comprehends lines as traveling: Is the journey enjoyable or an unpredictable ride full of jerks and bumps
in incoherence?...I want for pauses at a certain time to catch my minds breath; I want a roller coaster effect while being asked to feel thrilled> and finally, completion, in a friendly (albeit delightful) manner that suggests I may want to take the same adventure, again and again.
I have found, in reading your posts and again in verse, you are very capable as a creative artist in taking us along an adventure...time in developing your craft and thoughts will only evolve more powerfully your impact upon others...this is why I am choosing to follow you.
I find you bright and sunny,Vera. May you have blessings in all that you aspire to write
Respectfully David
@Verazhelvis# That is great Vera. No we don't have to wait for Him to come again. He already said "it is finished". He who has ear let Hon hear.
Thank you. But the Bible clearly says he will come.
Acts 1:11 "Men of Galilee," they said. "why do you stand here looking into the sky? This same Jesus, who has been taken from you into heaven, will come back in the same way you have seen him go into heaven."
You have a gift...and even more so when English isn't your native tongue...very impressive! :)
Yes, Vera! You know both Orthodox and Catholic Church celebrate His resurrection the same day this year!
Really? I didn't know.
I thought the western countries, I mean protestant and catholic churches, would celebrate it this Sunday.
In Russia, the Easter is on 16th April. Thanks, Rebecca.
But I hope my verse wasn't too much out of time.:)
Oh yes. I just wish I had published my verse right before the event. Though, it doesn't matter much. Jesus is the same a week earlier, or later.:)
I love it Vera! There could have been no other way. We could never have been good enough. The blood of animals wasn't enough. It had to be a sinless, unblemished lamb; the son of God and born of a virgin. And with all of our sins upon him; he took our punishment in the sacrifice to end all sacrifices. How could we not love him who loved us so much!! Thanks Vera.
A message that applies to every day and every season -- not just at this time of year commonly known as Easter. That's because Christ is the same today, yesterday and forever more.
A great tribute to the season and always Vera, I believe that why he said "my God why hast thou forsaken me" is because a loving Father temporarily withdrew from the agony of witnessing the Son's sacrifice!
I believe so, And what really got me- the drop of tear falling from the heaven in Mel Gibson's film. I used it in my verse, too...:)

Powerful, and more! Each time I read this, I feel a marvelous energy coming from your expression. Truly,Quite moving for me.
...lol, I think you get my point...sorry to be redundant. Best wishes
Thank you ever so much, David. As any creator, I am flattered. But this one was totally inspired, I was just a mediator, so no big deal on my part. Just hear and write down. Thank you so very much anyway. If I was able to write it down correctly, the energy of God reaches the hearts, and I am really happy.:)))
