How can I combine WA with a full time job?

Today for me is exactly DAY 50 as a WA member. I have almost completed level 2, which is a SMALL ACHIEVEMENT.

Although I feel like I have learned a lot already. I am definitely further along with my website design and content after slightly over 7 weeks than I was after year of struggling on my own with YouTube and Wordpress tutorials trying to figure out the science of web design with my first site. As I am getting more familiar with the whole WA platform, I am also GETTING MORE PRODUCTIVE, I HOPE.

THIS TRAINING PROGRAM IS AWESOME. Kyle and Carson, I am truly grateful for the opportunity to learn in an honest and efficient way a career in which I am dreaming of being successful. Thank you for that. The community interaction and support has been extremely valuable and encouraging. I love the spirit and to be connected with motivated people across the planet is really cool.

I picked a niche I am passionate about, organic home beer brewing. This market is growing over 7% a year, and it makes me feel good to educate people about producing only what they consume or to share with their friends and family, while being more environmentally conscious, helping the local farmers, and ... drinking better.

THE PROBLEM IS TIME. I am the time to research before I write. I am a beginner at brewing ... I am a beginner online entrepreneur ... realistically I can put in 10 to 12 HOURS A WEEK on top of my more than full time job, as a sales manager in the wholesale business where working nights and weekends are nor uncommon. I am going to progress enough, at a decent pace or is it going to take me YEARS TO ACHIEVE MY GOALS? I would be OK at $80K a year.

Time management is not necessarily one of my primary skills, but I am working on that too. I am not afraid of changing my schedule, my lifestyle.

If any of you are in a similar situation - demanding full time job - and have any insights, please let me know. I AM WILLING AND DETERMINED TO MAKE IT.

Cheers!

Vincent

If learning about craft beer is currently your hobby, the website will become an extension of that.

Who cares if it takes years to achieve your goal if you have a full time job to cover the expenses for now?

Life is meant to be enjoyed. I never expected that working on websites would become an enjoyable activity. Well, I must admit I maybe like the research part the best because it allows me to continually be learning.

Yet if you are involved in activities that you enjoy, that feel like a hobby - such as the craft beer, it doesn't feel like work. It simply replaces other things that used to occupy your time.

Hi Sondra,
I really love your point of view and your philosophy. I agree with you. Actually it doesn't feel like "work" in the corporate boring, senseless sense of the term, so I am OK now, my mind is just stressing me and distracting me. Now I am aware of it. Thanks for your wisdom! It really helps.
Cheers,
Vincent

You are welcome. Its all about how we choose to look at things. I hope that you have a great weekend.

Hi Vincent, we are all so busy these days, in the beginning, it can be hard to formulate a routine that works and one with which we can move forward and create some outcomes.

It may feel as if you are not progressing, but from what you have written you have come a long way.

The key is to consistently do something, and it all tends to build on its self. If you can get into the habit of using your mobile phone it can be amazing how many more hours that you can build into the week. Worked a treat for me in the early days.

The second thing is not to get upset if you feel that you are not making progress it can be a reel downer.

What I do is run a time bank each Sunday I know relatively how much time I have and where I will spend that time right through the week, if you only have ten hours then sit back and budget that time to get the most effective outcomes., you may be surprised there may be some spare hours in your week that you have not considered.

Your niche is a cracker, and one of those ones where the targeted demographic are only too willing to purchase online.

Best wishes.

Hi Alex,

I love your time management tips. Very helpful. I will start applying these today -
1. Get in a habit of using my phone, at least to be more on top of messages
2. Plan the time I will have available during the week by time slot
3. Do something everyday, for sure.
Above all I appreciate the advice of not getting upset/ not judging myself for the slow progress or the perceived lack of results.

Thanks for the encouragement, and the comment about the niche I chose. It means a lot.

Cheers!

Vincent

I'm fortunate in being retired, but I would suggest go for 2 posts a week for your site. That could be doable with a 12 hour a week time availability - you could do training and write 2 posts in those hours.

That sounds very realistic. Thanks for the advice.
How long does it take you on average to write a post?

I'm not an easy writer - sometimes I struggle. For me about 3 hours at least to research, write and finish about a 1000 word post.

I can only do this part time. I do something on my site everyday, some days it may be small. I hear you about time management I'm working on it too.

thanks for the feedback Mickey.

One thing you could consider is outsourcing some of the work. This will help get work done even while you are working. You'll have to manage the outsources, but once you get a few good people, you won't need to spend as much time.
Best Regards,
Jim

Another possibility (and possibly cheaper) is to find people who are skilled in the craft beer field and get them to guest post on your website. You can offer them a backlink and byline in exchange. This increases your authority in the niche, too.

That's brilliant. I love your idea. I know lots of people who can help me. Thanks!

You use the time you have. Realizing that the more effort and time you put in, the sooner you see success

I believe in that. I will try my best.

Focus and determination should be your watchword here.

Pursue your dream, focus on it but above all, never you give up.WA is a great community, helpful topics, wonderful people.

Thanks for encouragement.
I agree.
