My name is Kris and, from my profile picture, you may be able to tell I'm a cat person. :) But, just between you and me, I'm also a bunny person. And, to let you in on a little secret I don't tell just anybody, I'm also a 40-something year old woman who plays World of Warcraft on a regular basis. Yes. I'm that cool. ;-) By trade, I clean. Terribly exciting, I know. Part of the reason I'm here now. Another part of the reason I'm here now is because I want to earn more money, and I want to do so on my own terms, and figured this was a good place to start. And, I have to say, I'm looking forward to it.

Thanks so much! And it's so nice to meet fellow animal lovers. (I love dogs too - just don't have one). :)

Yes, the training and success do take time but, from what I hear and can see with my own two eyes here at WA, it's definitely worth it! (Still working toward that goal of financial freedom myself).

Bless you, and may you find much success here at WA! And may you make all those financial dreams of yours comes true!

But I have been putting forth more effort lately and I will enthusiastically share an update when I have one to share. :)

Lulu, your cats are adorable! Thanks so much for sharing their cute pictures with me! And bless you for taking Mon & Ming into your home. From the pictures, they sure look quite content.

Sounds like handsome Lupin has a nice "job." ;-) I bet he eats up all that attention from the hotel guests. And I bet he's a sweetie too! Looks a little bit like my other kitty (Winston). He's a (very pale) orange tabby too.

Please give your kitties pets for me!

Hi there! You are very welcome! Thanks for returning the favor! :)

Ha! Happy to hear that. It's nice to know I'm not the only one. I blame my dad. He got me into computer games with Diablo, way back when it first came out, and, in fact, still plays that one himself. Shortly after that one, I was very much into all the Tomb Raiders and eventually I made my way to WoW. Turns out I'm really good at wasting time. Ha! ;)

By the way, I checked out your website...nice job! Camping is something my boyfriend and I enjoy this time of year. Sadly, however, we do not have an RV. At this point in my life, I would LOVE to have one. Would prefer it to tent camping in fact. Ah, well. Maybe someday. Either way, though, it's just nice getting out into nature. Okay, back to work (or just - To Work) for me. ;)

Well thank ya', Kris! I know about tent camping... I think we all started there. We got pretty serious about it when we saw that we were getting close to retiring.

Once we had enough of all the other traveling and totally fell in love with camping and fishing, that's where we concentrated whatever resources we could spare!

Everything we've bought in terms of RV's has been entry level though we always got exactly what we wanted. Kinda weird how that works out.

You guys just stay in the hunt... it'll happen! In the meantime, don't stop till ya' totally get the Cert Course under your belt. Once that's done things get a lot clearer as you actually see stuff starting to work.

WA is filled with distractions these days so stay singleminded and totally in the hunt. Need anything, just say the word!!!

Have a great new week,

You're welcome, Randy! Yes, you're right. We probably all started with tent camping. Although I've got some softies in my family who are all about cabins, no tents (and that's if you can get them outside at all!) :) Anyway, I love the idea of having an RV when it's time to retire. I think it would be a lot of fun and very relaxing.

Thanks so much for your words of encouragement. Those are always appreciated. I will do my best to keep at it and pushing forward. Yes, those distractions can be tough - and not just here at WA but the day to day stuff too - more so, the day to day stuff, in fact. Must learn to focus better.

Thanks again! Have a wonderful week yourself, Randy!

Ey there Kris... reckon I got a wee bit busy. Too funny, got a call from a friend who's got a relative and husband living in a 5'th Wheel on their property. The water pressure took a dive so they gave me a call this morning and I had a chance to go play doctor on their water system... LOL!

I've heard that whole less-sleep-as-we age stuff myself. Although I don't think it's that we actually NEED less sleep; I think it's more so that we sometimes don't sleep as well so we end up getting less overall. Which stinks.

So, good for you, Randy! Get what you need! And may we all follow your lead. :) A chronically tired society is a cranky society.

Cranky society... I live in California... not only is this state full of cranky people, but they're getting to be pretty lawless and depraved too.

Hi Randy,

Hey, looks like I'm your northern neighbor up here in OR. There's actually a joke going on that the 'wall' should be built at the border between OR and CA. :-D But please take no offense as the sad truth is that the entire west coast has become a less than ideal sort of place for all the reasons you mentioned. :-\

So, yes, you're right. Sleep cannot fix our society. (But it still may help with the grumpy and cranky people). ;) I hear ya about Utah and Idaho though - Montana also sounds nice. Or the moon.

Hope your weekend is splendid too!

Eh there Kris,

Yup, the night was awesome with all our buds and the sleep wasn't half bad.

Ya' know, if I lived in Oregon, I would feel the same way... just build that wall on the state line (-;

If the Frisco dude becomes our next Gov, it's all over for CA. It'd be real interesting if someone could come up with a two CA state proposition that actually worked. We could really have some fun with that one...LOL!!!

We've got some friends up in Montana now and they absolutely love it. I still haven't gotten up there but sure would love to go check it out.

Kinda like Oregon a bit too. I really enjoy Astoria and had a good time camping at Fort Stevens a couple of years ago!

Hi Randy,

Ugh...another busy week! Sorry I was so slow responding!

Ha! I'm happy I didn't offend with that OR/CA wall comment. My boyfriend has family in northern CA (wonderful, sweet, generous people) so I am well aware that there are plenty of good, solid, intelligent individuals living there (including you!) but you all seem to be outnumbered by the other variety. As is the case here in OR.

I keep hearing about different ideas to divide CA into more than one state. The last I heard mentioned dividing into 3 (or was it 4?) states. Not sure how that would work but I'm pretty sure if I lived there, I'd be all for it. :)

You definitely should make your way to MT! It is a very beautiful state. We've got friends who live there too, not too far from Glacier National Park. So, of course, whenever we visit, we must go there as well. Lots of hiking and camping and sightseeing to be done there.

Hey, I've camped near Fort Stevens myself! Of course, I didn't have as far to go as you. :) Yes, OR does have some beauty to offer. Like CA, we've pretty much got it all - ocean, mountains, lakes, and even desert. If we could just do something about some of the damn people. ;)

Boy! Guess I've run off at the keyboard a bit, haven't I? (Sorry!) I wish you a very happy and productive weekend! Oh, and happy Father's Day!

Ey there Kris,
Just got back from over two weeks in the Eastern Sierras doing a little stream fishing and camping. It's good to be back but I can't wait to clean up the rig, take care of some biz and then get back up to the incredible trout streams of the eastern Sierras!!!

I've got some friends camping up in Oregon right now. They were with us for 4 days a couple of weeks ago on the Robinson and then came up to Oregon for two or three weeks.

I think they were going to spend some time on the Rogue and then head over to the coast for a couple of weeks. I think they were going to be south of the Umpqua!

Yeah, it's funny how nature is so incredible but it's the people that always mess up the beauty and the solitude. Sometimes it's the inconsiderate folks that make me want to just come home and start over...LOL!!!!

Montana sounds great... just wishin' that 2018 wasn't so doggone busy. With everything going on we'll barely be able to hit the Robbie in the latter part of August and Sept then get back home for some busy winter months.

Oh well, maybe 2019 will be a bit slower paced, ey? Reckon we'll just take this time to fix a few things on the rig and get ready for smackin' them trout in August... LOL!!!

Hope all is well with ya'!!!

Hey Randy!

Great to hear from you again! Sounds like you've had a fabulous few weeks! I'm a bit envious. ;) I'm not a fisher(wo)man but the camping and just being away for that long sounds positively wonderful! (Especially in such a beautiful setting as you just enjoyed).

I hope your friends are enjoying their visit to Oregon. There's just so much beauty to be found in either of our states. It's really hard to go wrong no matter where you go. :)

We went for a couple different hikes in the Gorge yesterday. Other than the crazy wind, it was a nice day for it. But we saw evidence of those kinds of people you referred to, messing things up. :-\ Some people simply shouldn't be allowed in nature.

Oh, boy! Yes, I too hope 2019 is a little less busy than 2018. But I also hope I get better at time management. Now. That might help with the always-feeling-super-busy thing I seem to have going on most of the time.

I hope all is well with you too, Randy! Enjoy the rest of your weekend and I hope you have a wonderful time on your next camping and fishing trip!

Eya Kris,

Hopin' this finds ya' doin' great! Now the crunch is on. We've got three weeks to reorganize the rig for the next trip in August... in the meantime we've got a family reunion to get up to in North Seattle, then a wedding to hurry back down to L.A. to and then an extremely quick pack up an trip back up the 395 to the Robinson again.

I'm thinkin' it's gonna be a blur. In the morning we're taking my young grandson back over to Covina after having him with us for almost a week, including a two day camping trip! Then we'll head to my buddy's memorial service and then get on back home tomorrow afternoon sometime.

Sunday will be a gut wrencher as we have to place our Lily Hammer in a foster home where she won't have any small dogs to dominate. Four or five days ago she got violent with our older pup, Sophie and Sophie is the queen of this household, though our hearts are just breaking tonight.

Not sure how I'm gonna do with sleepin' for the next week as Lily is my total sidekick and she's by my side almost all of the day.

Anyway kiddo, sure hopin' the heat is a non issue for you folks... it's been blazing down here and doesn't seem to be letting up!

Best wishes,

Randy

Hey Randy,

Holy moly! You're not kidding! That's a LOT of activity you've got coming your way. Most of it sounds pretty fun though. Bet you really enjoyed having your grandson around. :) Speaking of little ones, went to my great niece's 3rd birthday party this past weekend. That was fun - though it still blows my mind that my own nephew is a dad (3 times over at that!)

I'm really sorry to hear of your Lily. It's a shame when things like that happen. Will you at least be able to visit her? I sure hope so! I'm a huge animal person (which I'm sure you've gathered with my profile picture being a cat and all), so I can relate to how you're feeling. I have 2 cats and a bunny (no dogs), so I haven't faced issues like the one you're going through but I have had situations where I felt there were some serious compatibility issues and was horribly torn about how to deal with them.

I also have an (almost) 17 year old (very faded) orange tabby (we call him The Yella Fella - though his given name is Winston) and he & I are a bonded pair, so to speak. And, as far as I'm concerned, he needs to be around forever. There. I have spoken. Now it should be.

If only....

Oh, boy - sadly we are not avoiding the heat. We are in the thick of it. We've had almost a week of over 90 degree weather, with a couple at least going over 100. It may still be hotter in your neck of the woods but once it gets over about 80, it's too damn hot so it doesn't really matter at that point what the thermometer says. I'm a fall kind of gal...counting down the days.

I sure hope you guys are coping with the heat okay. Do you have air-conditioning? I imagine in CA, it's probably a given you do. I certainly hope you do anyway. It used to be rather unnecessary up my way to have it as we rarely got that hot and when we did, it was maybe a day or two at a time, with ample recovery period between the next day or two of it. Now it's getting to be that everyone needs to have it throughout the entire season. Blech.

And on that note, I hope you are doing okay with what you've got going on and I hope this heat gives us all a break ASAP!

I hope you have a lovely evening, Randy!

Ey there Kris,

Wow has it been crazy out here!

Last weekend we had our family reunion up in Seattle so it's been some very short nights since last Thursday when we had to get up at 2am to get to the airport and head to Seattle.

This whole week we've had early morning appts. Tomorrow we can sleep in a wee bit but around 1p we have to head over to Thousand Oaks for my oldest grandson's wedding!

Sunday will be our normal day with our church family and then we'll be getting up real early again to throw stuff in the rig, back it out of the backyard and get on the road for a long trip up to the Robinson Creek up in the Eastern Sierras for 3 weeks!

One of the coolest things is that there's no cell signals up there so I won't be burning up the keyboard on my laptop all day long.

Hopefully there'll be some trout left over and we'll be able to enjoy some good stream fishin'... (-;

The fires down here are crazy and we've got ash covering everything. Everybody knows someone that is being impacted by the fires. bjdluna(Barbara) lives right on the edge of the Holy fire and could be wiped out at anytime. She really needs everyone's prayer!

On top of the fires we're still getting temps up close to 100°. I think it's supposed to drop down to the low 90°s in 3 or 4 days! Either way our A/C has been crankin' like crazy. We've got a whole house fan that we run at night which really blows out the attic and cools it down nicely.

Anyway partner, I sure hope all is going well for ya'. Keep those feline's nice and cool... well, the bunny, too!!!

Talk to ya' when we get back from the Eastern Sierras!

Hi Randy!

My goodness, you've had a busy summer so far! And you're still having one! Sure sounds like fun though.

I'm hoping we can get at least one more camping trip in before the weather changes. We had one planned but my senior kitty, Winston, (not the one I use as my profile picture - that's Mimi) is having some health issues. Specifically, he's got some kind of growth in his abdomen. So, either I can pay an arm and a leg to find out it's something I can do nothing about (or, though extremely unlikely - nothing of concern), all the while causing Winston a great deal of stress in the process, OR...I could just give him as much love and affection as I can until it's that time. So I'm going for the latter. I am giving him CBD oil though. I don't know that it will help in any way, but as far as I'm concerned, if it's not hurting him in any way, and if it could possibly add more quality to the time he has left, I'm all for it.

For now, he doesn't seem to be showing any symptoms - still eating, drinking, "littering" as normal. So, that's good.

Anyway, enough about that. Again, if we can get a camping trip in, great. If not, then next season.

Oh, those fires! Being in CA, you're in the thick of it much more so than I am. I'm so sorry! And I'm even sorrier for the friend you mentioned who was so close to one of them. Any updates on her situation? I sure hope the wind changed and the fire is no longer a threat to her or her home. I will definitely pray for her and all those affected by all those devastating fires.

Thankfully our weather has cooled down (temporarily). Rascal the bunny seems to appreciate it more than the cats. The cats are acting like it's cold or something. ;) Silly beasts.

We had a couple or so days of unhealthy air because of the heat and smoke from the fires. But I know it's worse for all those in southern OR and in CA. I hope your camping/fishing trip takes you away from all that, so you can enjoy not only some peace and quiet but some healthy, fresh air as well.

Speaking of which, you're probably there right now. I hope you're having a wonderful time! Be safe and I'll "see" you when you get back!

Ey there Kris,

Got back from our trip up along the Eastern Sierra. Wow, bummer this year. Our wonderful state's Fish and Game cut our trout back to practically nothing.

On top of very little fishing, we had a problem with mice and squirrels finding their way into our rig. Had to do a little trappin' in the 'ol coach. Reckon I'll save everyone the details, ey?

Anyway my friend, I'm hopin' the fires are about out up there. I think the day we left Bridgeport, another fire broke out up around the south Walker and then another one up around Lake Topaz.

But we did come home to smokeless skies... finally!

I don't know how much good the CBD oil is but I had my Kaylee girl on it her last 6 months and she never winced from any pain. I think I still have a half a bottle left in the medicine cabinet.

Well, it has been a lot cooler down here, for sure. We have a whole house fan and we turn it on an hour or two before we go to bed. I go to bed shiverin' and get out of bed shiverin', it works that good!

But what I really like is being able to turn my sprinklers back down a bit. When we got home, my back yard was amazing. All the grass that had been scorched by the heat was back to being lush and green. (Yup, that's right... no desert-scape in my yards)!!!

Anyway partner, hope this finds you and those sweet kitty cats doing great! Thinkin' I'll hit those sheets early tonight as we've got a guest from Nairobi, Kenya coming in at Ontario Aiport in the morning and we'll be getting up a wee bit earlier than normal!

Best wishes, friend...

Hi Randy!

Great to hear from you! And welcome back! Sorry to hear your trip had some disappointments and hiccups. I do hope you managed to enjoy yourselves regardless however. I think, for the most part, if you're out in nature, with all the beauty and that fresh air, it's hard NOT to enjoy yourself at least somewhat, regardless. :) Oh, yes, and thanks for sparing me the details of your trappings. ;)

Speaking of that, several years ago we were camping in WA, near Mt. Adams and as we were fixing dinner we saw we had a little "helper" in the form of a mouse. Other than having to chase him away from our food here and there, he didn't cause much trouble and we didn't think about him much after going to bed. Fast forward to the next morning, we were getting ready to fix breakfast, which involved unpacking the food again from the car and what did we find but that our "friend" had managed to stow himself away in a bag o' food items as we were putting things away the night before and had quite the feast overnight.

We had picked quite a lot of huckleberries the day before as well and boy! That mouse sure enjoyed those! Needless to say, we were rather annoyed. :-\ But did not make that mistake again.

So glad to hear those persistent and godawful fires are out! I know it was really bad near you; we even had some dangerous air quality up our way for several days. Right now we're getting some rain which almost always makes things seem fresher, greener and cleaner. I do enjoy rain. Hope you guys get some of that soon, if you haven't already!

Oh, yes! That house fan! We do not have one unfortunately, but sure could have used one during the thick of summer. Ugh. I'm already slightly chilly in the mornings and I'm okay with that. :) Now, when it starts to get cold, I'll complain again. ;)

I'm so happy to hear your sweet Kaylee didn't seem to suffer from any pain during her last several months. :( Still sad you had to go through that. That's never easy. But she no doubt knew she was greatly loved and appreciated. My Winston still seems to be doing okay. Nothing has really changed in his behavior or other habits, which I take as a good sign. Haven't noticed anything like any type of shrinkage of the growth in his abdomen since starting him on the CBD oil but, again, if it's at least keeping him feeling like his usual self, then that's worth it. Speaking of Winston, he just turned 17 years old last week. No wonder he walks around the place, acting like he owns it. ;)

Your backyard sounds beautiful! That's great it was able to make a comeback from the extreme heat this summer. And a dramatic one at that, sounds like! Go walk in it barefoot for me. I love that sensation! :) I'd do it myself here but we don't have much yard unfortunately.

You have a wonderful week, Randy! And enjoy your guest!

And, as always, it was lovely to hear from you!

Thank you! Ha! Your cat's name cracked me up. My cat's name is Mimi. I do have one other one. His name is Winston. Their names aren't quite as amusing as yours. ;)

Where my mother worked gave her the cat from a rescue animal center are my father died. The cats name was Andrew and we called it all the ways of Andrew then I called it hey dumb dumb and he turned around and looked. So that's how he got the name.

Sorry to hear about your dad. That sure was nice of them to give your mom a cat though. Am sure it helped. Animals are awesome in that way.

Ah, I see! That's really funny. Nicknames can come about in some of the strangest ways. :) All three of our animals have a long list of nicknames and, in fact, are rarely called or referred to by their given names. And most of their nicknames would make you question how the heck we created them. :)

I hope things are going well. I know you are getting rolling within the training and there is ONE thing that always tends to confuse people and that is "what is my niche?".

I know, same thing happened to me when I started.

I just wanted to reach out and let you know that I am here if you ever want to run any niche "ideas" by me or you have any questions about finding your niche.

Get back to me when you get the chance! :)
Reply
Urlaina Premium
Thanks, Kyle! I just went through that training yesterday and I think I found a niche. As you suggested, it not only has something to do with what I enjoy, it's definitely less broad as well. Now I just have to figure a way to get it all together. :)
Reply
Kyle Premium
Awesome to hear Kris. When deciding on a niche and trying to narrow down to a more specific niche, I recommend you ask yourself the following question:

I want to help people that ______________.

Fill in the blank and you are going to be much closer to a specific audience. After you do this and if you want to run any further ideas by me, let me know and I will give you a hand. :)
Reply
Urlaina Premium
That's so helpful, Kyle! Thank you! That definitely gives me ideas, and helps me narrow down even further exactly what my niche will be and ways to create content even.
