Hi all. I've got an iPad and as much as I love it with all my heart 😀 Would you say it would be better with a laptop? If so what do I look for spec wise?

So I stumbled on this post and even though it is a little old I figured I would chip in my 2 cents. I can imagine that an iPad can be difficult to work with since it is small. I am a bit of a tech nerd and have 2 tablets, 2 laptops and a desktop. Out of all of them I use my Chromebook the most. You may want to look into them, the main selling point is they are super cheap. However the usability is very limited. It is essentially a laptop that only has a google chrome web browser on it, you get apps like a calculator and there are a variety of chrome-apps available but I would not rely on them.
If you primarily work within the browser, as in Email, and editing WordPress sites and research. I cannot recommend them enough. Just a friendly suggestion. To reiterate though, you cannot get Microsoft Word and Office on them, you cannot get the outlook application on them. It is just a browser, but I got mine for under 300 bucks it is super light(2.5lbs) and the battery lasts 9-10 hours.
Specs for a laptop really depends on what you will be doing with it. There are some nuances that take some getting used to with a Chromebook since it is significantly different than having a PC or Mac.

morning Raymond, thank you for your input, really appreciated. Now a few days in and finding that a laptop is a must. I like Apple because of there security so would be interested in a MacBook, but I have no idea which one as theres MacBook/Pro/Air. I haven't used a Mac before but hoping its as easy the ipad. Are you able to recommend one that's suitable for web building etc etc. many thanks
Hey! So I haven't used a macbook for a little while since back in my DJing years.
I just glanced at the new macbooks. So my understanding of the main selling point of each version. The Air is super lightweight and compact a little less powerful but a little cheaper. The pro is more powerful and more expensive. The standard macbook is just well rounded, somewhere in the middle.
The best thing about web building is it is super light weight to do. All you need is a text editor if you are building from scratch and all you need is a browser if you are using a platform like WordPress. So I am confident in saying that any new macbook is more than capable for building and designing websites so it really boils down to personal preference and budget. Plus they will all work with your ipad really well and Apple's main selling point is their usability, so they are ready to go out of the box.
Main things to look at is RAM or Memory. This helps the computer's speed. 4GB is the minimum I would go but 8GB is really what I recommend. The 2.7 duo processor is pretty solid on all their base models. Then hard drive size I think the base is 128 GB...break down of that is a GB is about 150 songs or 1 HD movie. Just to give you an idea or how much space you may want. You can always grab an external hard drive for pretty cheap if you need more space.
After that is a matter of deciding what screen size you prefer using. I will note with screen sizes is that it also correlates with keyboard size, I personally think that the smaller keyboards are a little cramped and I am not as good at typing on them. Then if you go too big it is really hard to find a laptop bag!

No lol not yet, going to have a look over the weekend. Going to get the apple at a later date as talking 1k so looking at low priced, fast running laptop. Mind you I could get a cheap laptop then there's word etc, plus security to buy.
