Here is my story and it should be a familiar one. Several years ago I decided to learn another occupation since I had heard and read there were many people leaving their current jobs and making untold millions on the internet. (Notice I said decided and not that I had made a decision, I'll explain more as we go along) In those days my email box was stuffed with slick ad copy and landing pages touting the latest "guru" with their latest get rich, no work involved, we do it all, spillover matrices, turning my computer into my personal ATM scheme of the day. I say scheme because most of the programs did little more than collect my money, sent me a nice email confirming receipt of my money and a heartfelt (I'm sure lol) GOOD LUCK!!! Through those years I did little more than collect receipts. The thing is I don't blame any of those people for me not making untold millions. I blame ME. But Tom, they just took your money, you might be saying. Well, though that may be partially true here is why I blame me. I never took the time to MAKE A DECISION. I never LEARNED how money was made on the internet. I never took the time to learn the steps necessary from creating content, to creating a list ,to keyword, etc. In short I never learned the basics. I had no foundation. For anyone that knows me, they find this a bit puzzling about me. I have trained people how to sell for literally 25 years and I constantly preach about learning the basics. I have written may training programs about just that principle but did not follow my own teaching when it came to online business. My fault.

This bring us to today. A few months ago I got involved in a bad deal with my current profession. Without going into a bunch of detail let's leave it at it was a costly mistake in judgement on my behalf that caused unnecessary burden on my wife and I. Turns out I trusted a situation that I should not have. It was at the conclusion of this deal that I made a decision. My decision was that I was never going to be in a situation that jeopardized that which my wife and i have worked for and that I would learn absolutely EVERYTHING about online business. I wanted to have the freedom to make all of my own decisions regarding my work schedule and time spent with family and friends. Further, I did not want to walk away from my current profession until I had replaced my current income. I saw and ad in my email which offered me a free look and free training and not only did not ask for my money didn't ask for anything more than my email address and name. Well, this was a new twist!! What drew me to the Wealthy Affiliate site was that it offered me all of the training I could take in before i decided to jump all in. It offered me a free website with free hosting and SHOWED me how to build it. I saw training on things I never thought were components to making money online. they never promised me a thing. They never claimed they were going to make me rich. In fact they said the only way I would make money was by learning the basics and working hard. Now, this is not the only program I have looked at recently, but it is by far the best training and the most hands on program I have ever seen. It will teach you the basics and then a lot more. It will encourage your progress. it will offer you advice by other people that are making money online within this community. It will provide you a step by step plan to go from knowing little of the process to becoming an expert in the fundamentals of online marketing. What it will not do for you, however, is learn the material for you or make the time in your schedule for you, or build your site or sites for you. Those are all things you have to do. And the first step is you have to make a decision. Make a decision to learn the basics and become an expert at them. Make a decision to make the time and effort to apply what you have learned. Make a decision that nothing will stop your progress. Make a decision that it's ok to not be perfect but that what you are doing is constantly evolving and will pay off. And finally, make a decision that you owe it to you and those you love to do this for whatever your reasons are. Whether your reasons have to do with more money or more time make the decision to make it happen. I am rooting for you and so are the thousand of people that are members of Wealthy Affiliate.
