Domain Name Services
I just transferred the last of my domains to NameSilo.com
My total charge was $8.39 with WHOIS privacy. Live support provided during business hours.
I was registered with GoDaddy.com, because of excellent service and 24/7 support. I changed because of the renewal fee. The charge would been $23.73 for the exact same services. Live support provided 24/7.
I also checked NameCheap.com and found that they wanted $10.87. No live help on the phone, but they do provide live chat.
You can use this post to choose where to buy or transfer a domain name or offer up what you have found to be the best place to buy a domain name.
All input is appreciated!

Thank you for the tips, Terea. :) Just transferred one of my hubby's site to Namecheap from Godaddy too, Namecheap gives good support :)
Thank you. Hope you are doing very well. It is great to have your support.
I hope you are blessed with incredible success!
Never heard of NameSilo.com, will definitely revisit the registrar, once my domains expires. Thanks for the reference.
We are hosted by WA, but for a Top Level Domain Name, you must purchase a domain name.
If you choose your name from what WA offers, it will be followed by .siterubix.com
Hosting and domain names are a totally different thing.
If you are new to WA, then it is not a bad idea to use a free domain name to get some practice in.
When you get some experience under your belt, you will probably want to purchase a TLD.
I like Name Silo as well. My last two domains with Go Daddy just expired. (they were not being used) I still have some with Namecheap but I really like NameSilo.
Happy to hear that you like NameSilo. The main thing I do not care for from NameCheap is the customer service arrangement, which offers no voice contact.
I'm checking into this as I have one site that I want to move and if It goes well I'll move my others so they're in the same place. Do you know if it causes downtime on sites during a domain transfer?
It does not, if your transfer goes smoothly and you have all the proper information to give to the domain name providers.
I went to GoDaddy and got my transfer code. When I went to
NameSilo I simply input the transfer verification number and paid.
I like to start the process about 60 days out, but 30 days works well.
Transfer after the domain name expires and you will run into many hassles that can easily be avoided.
Hi - it shouldn't.
There may be a small delay observed by people in different parts of the world, as the change to the DNS settings replicates around the worlds internet servers - but in my experience, the change is almost immediate.
cheers, Mark
I'm coming up for domian name renewal so should I pay that first, then change the registrar? How did it cost you?
Do not pay if you intend to change and your domain name is current.
Ask your current server to provide you with the "transfer authorization number" and be sure your domain name is UNLOCKED by your provider.
Go to http://NameSilo.com, take care of your signup and then choose transfer. You will enter the domain name to transfer and then the authorization number.
Check out and pay.
NameSilo will send you an email almost immediately confirming the transfer or the reason you the transfer is not going through, along with directions of what to do to make it happen.
I paid by CC and the charge was $8.39.
Did I understand the payment question correctly?
Perfect :) after that process I'm taking it that NameSilo will then be my registrar for that domain and all future dealings will be through them?
