Enter Pretty Links

Many people see Pretty Links as simply a method of turning a long, complex URL into a shorted, simpler one.

And while it is that, more importantly, it turns a link to an outside website into one based on YOUR website.

So that, for example,

https://yourvendorswebsitecom/affiliatestuff/789$32bfg/this... might become

https://mywebsite.com/3g79

Note that not only is the link much shorter and, well, “prettier” but as far as a search engine is concerned, it’s an internal link within your own website.

So, you can use the generated pretty link in your blog post and anyone clicking on it will be taken to your vendor’s site via your affiliate link.

OR

If you use a landing page, you can replace the link on the landing page with the pretty link, while your blog post points to the landing page, giving you double the credibility.

"But if it’s early in your internet marketing journey, building a landing page may not yet be in your skill set. It’s hard enough writing a product review blog post"

I don't quite agree with you. I have several posts with lots of direct affiliate links, and they're doing pretty well (very well, in fact!).

Many of them are ranking the first page in google, and they're indexed and ranked a few minutes after they're published...

That's well done, Cristina. Your posts must have great content and be very keyword specific. All I'm saying is that there can be some penalties for direct affiliate links and this is a simple way of avoiding them.

I too have lots of page 1 rankings.
