If you don't have your own mailing list, you don't have a sustainable, scaleable business. The money is in the list. That is why all the millionaires online have created big highly targeted, responsive mailing lists of mostly buyers. Having a list of freebie downloaders is worthless because they will never buy anything.

I used to always give away free gifts of value to build my mailing lists but today I rarely do that. What we all want is people with a genuine desire to solve a problem or get a question answered and willing to pay you for a solution. So by all means give away something of value but make sure it includes a link to a product that eventually many will buy. Never give away trash!

Examples are a mini training course with a strong call to action buy now button or a newsletter also with links? I usually filter my lists every six months and after one year remove all freebie downloaders who only signed up for the free gifts. That way you eventually get a strong, highly responsive list of mostly buyers. You can then send one email and make money on demand.

To get started you need to get an autoresponder account. There are many but the top two are Aweber and Get Response. We use and recommend Aweber because of their excellent customer support. It costs $1 for the first 30 days, then $19 a month for several campaigns. Once your list grows that charge will increase but by then your earnings should easily afford that?

It is easy to get started. Go to http://www.aweber.com and fill in your membership details, pay the $1 and you are done. They have training videos and YouTube also has many people who will show you how to use Aweber.

I learnt how when I used to belong to the Chris Farrell membership. All you do is log in to Aweber, and create a new campaign.Fill in the relevent sections, create your follow up email sequence and copy and paste your raw opt in form into your blog/website pages. To position where it should show, either left, center or right, then enter a line of letters like rrrrrrrrrrrr. In the section where your html code is automatically entered, find those letters and highlight all of it being careful not to cover anything other then those rrrrrrrrrr's then paste your code over that. Don't forget to save your new entry and test it works by signing in yourself. You can log into Aweber and delete yourself later.

Then check that all is as it should be. When you create your opt in box at Aweber, you can choose the design you like best. However if you want even higher conversions, (people who sign up), you could consider also using Lead Pages or Lead Rocket or best of all ClickFunnels. These are what most of the top online earners also use.

Inserting your opt in code using these makes adding your opt in code even easier. ClickFunnels is not a WordPress plugin, which has it's own hosting included, while Lead Pages and Lead Rocket are WP plugins. I prefer Lead Rocket because Lead Pages is a monthly fee while lead Rocket has a one time payment. If you need any help with creating an opt in box and list building, get in touch and I will help you.

All the best.

Stephen & Jennifer.

Great content here your absolutely right the money is in the list. I've also found it valuable to add the buddypress plugin so people come back and get used to loging in as a registered user and engaging with other members. I use mailchimp because it is completely free until u want to send more automatic messages to thousands of people than it is $10 a month. Do you know what features aweber can do that mailchimp can not?

Their customer service sets the standard that others have yet to achieve although Mailchimp and Get Response are worth considering? It comes down to personal choice I suppose Klock?
