So ...

First you need to export your current customizer settings from the "old" site.

Go to Appearance => Customize and click the "Export/Import" tab to access the available settings and options:

And usually there are no additional settings here. All you have to do is to click the "Export" button:

The plugin will now export all your customizer settings and send them to your browser in a .dat file. If you'll see a small prompt window (depending on your browser settings) just choose "Save File" (instead of "Open File") ...

And just to clear the air ... The plugin will export any theme-related settings stored in the current Wordpress database (color settings, layout directions, header media, etc), but won't export things like menus, site title, widgets, etc.

OK. Let's move forward to the last lesson to see the import process ...

Wow, that looks pretty easy! Thanks for the tip. I may use it as I'm constantly changing my mind about the right theme for my new website.

Hi Smartketeer,
Thanks for the post, it will be really helpful to me when the time comes to move my website, however I am still stuck in the very first phase that you talked about, Choosing the so called "right" theme for my website.

I wanted to use the new theme Divi, but I have to pay for it. Also, I checked some youtube videos on how to create a website with WP from scratch but definately I am not a designer. I think I will go to fiverr to hire a freelancer to build my site. But before that, I will give it a try one more time to create my own site and save some money.

Thanks again,

Mauricio.
