Let's start with the why part ...
Well, I can tell you from the bottom of my heart (and I'm pretty sure that you'll agree), finding the perfect theme can be a really annoying and frustrating issue ...
Back in 2014 when I started to build websites for myself, I've spent three weeks to find my favorite. And I can tell you, I've learned a lot things about themes during my "calvary" ...
And not so long ago I've created a tutorial on this important topic. Here its:
How to find the perfect theme for your website
And of course, thats' just the beginning ... Once you have a winner, you'll have to set up your website using the theme customizer which will allow you to change colors, header images, background images, layout settings, etc.
Now, each theme comes with a pre-defined set of available options and settings, and there are many situations where you could be interested in moving all those - already configured - theme customizer settings from one website to another without having to move content and database.
The most common example: using the same theme on multiple sites. Personally, I'm using the very same theme an ALL my Wordpress websites. But there could be other reasons too ... For example, moving settings from an offline environment to a live site and vice versa, etc.
So I've decided to create a short tutorial to show you how easy is to move your theme customizer settings from one website to another without having to move content and database.

Let's see the magic ...
Thanks for the post, it will be really helpful to me when the time comes to move my website, however I am still stuck in the very first phase that you talked about, Choosing the so called "right" theme for my website.
I wanted to use the new theme Divi, but I have to pay for it. Also, I checked some youtube videos on how to create a website with WP from scratch but definately I am not a designer. I think I will go to fiverr to hire a freelancer to build my site. But before that, I will give it a try one more time to create my own site and save some money.
Thanks again,
Mauricio.
