So ...

Upon activation, go to Settings => Excerpt to access the plugin settings page.

You'll see a bunch of different options, but they are quite self explanatory ...

For example ...

  • you can define a custom length for your excerpts
  • you can exclude incomplete words or sentences from your excerpt
  • you can choose what to show at the end of the excerpts
  • you can define a custom "Read More" link
  • you can enable or disable excerpts on given pages (home, arhive, category, tag, etc)

And that's it ... When you are happy with your choices, simply click the "Save Canges" button to store your settings ... You can now visit your site to see the excerpts in action ...

Note: it goes without saying, the plugin won't make any changes to your actual content.

Cool, isn't it?

And that's it my friends!

Great training! I always just used the default, but I see the advantages of customizing the excerpt as well. I'll put that into practice more often.

Great tutorial, it’s also reminded me to think about my site from the readers view point.
