There are a variety of methods regarding how the merchant compensates you the affiliate for your services.

Among the more common methods of compensation are the pay-per-click method, the pay-per-lead method, and the pay-per-sale method.

The pay-per-click method is probably the method most preferred by affiliates because all the visitor needs to do is visit the advertiser’s site for you to earn money if they decide to buy.

The other two methods more often than not are preferred by the merchants, because they only have to compensate you if your visitor becomes one of their signups, or if the visitor actually purchases their products.

Earning profit on affiliate marketing programs, however, does not depend so much on the compensation method as is it does on the traffic generated by your site.

A website that attracts more traffic would generally have a greater chance of earning money in any given affiliate marketing program.
