Adding Keywords
One of the most frustrating things about Yahoo! Search Marketing is the fact that it can be very difficult to get approved for keywords. Once your keywords have been submitted, they are put to the "Editorial Listings" section where they are basically put into a buffer, awaiting a review. This process usually takes 3-5 business days.
There are several different reasons that keywords may not get approved, but most of the time a keyword does not get approved because it is not relevant to the website, or it is a trademarked term.
For example, if you submit the search term wealthy affiliate, you would either have to have something related to affiliates, wealthy, or you could simply have a wealthy affiliate review. You could potentially have a site related to money and this may be accepted, but there is a chance that the keyword will be disapproved.
If you ever feel that your search term has wrongly been disapproved, phone Yahoo! Search Marketing support at:
1-866-YAHOO-SM (924-6676)
They will walk you through the reasons as to why the keyword or ad was not approved, and often times they won't see anything wrong with it, and will resubmit the listing for you.
Yahoo has much less competition than Google. For some reason people have been drawn to advertise in Google Adwords and have not even consider Yahoo. Although there are some frustrating components like ad approval and more stringent ad moderation, Yahoo Search Marketing should not be overlooked by any marketer.
