What Are Search Engine Rankings?
Once your website has content on it, the crawlers have been there over and over, you have built a good healthy relationship with Google and other Search Engines:

You need to build a healthy relationship with Search Engines because its their website and they want to provide their readers with the best search results as they can.
If you constantly give amazing content that is all constantly getting indexed (Making It To The Boss) Then eventually it will all start to get Ranked.
When you get enough content to the Boss, eventually the Boss starts to put your website in front of The Boss's readers, The Search Engine gets a happy searcher and you get a new reader to your website. This is why your relationship with Search Engines Is Very Important!
When you type anything into Google, all the SERP's or Search Engine Result Pages, are the websites that have first been indexed then over time been Ranked.
When you get Ranked on the first page of any search engine for any keyword, you have achieved the main goal.
You must build a good relationship, with lots of indexing before ranking.

If your Website is Ranked, it will show up when you type in the keyword or phrase you wrote about. Rankings is all about Competition, If no one else has written a post like yours, with your Keywords, then the competition is zero and you should rank for that keyword. But you need to build your site trust and get Indexed First!
