When I was a teenager I was working for a guy that wired police cars, construction vehicles and governmental projects. I did that part of the time. The rest of the time I was planting ACRES of trees on his property for his - I'm guessing future - prospect of being a nursery. I also ran irrigation for these trees.
He was extremely particular about how I did it as well. There could be no dirt left around the hole I planted in. I did not like my boss most of the time, but he taught me one of the most valuable things that I have ever learned and I have used it with everything I do.
I worked my rear off the first day. I was soaking with sweat, hungry, thirsty, discouraged and in pain. It didn't help much when he came out and ripped me a new one for only getting done what I did. After tearing into me, cutting me down and then showing me how he plants a tree - which put mine to shame - he gave me this advice:
He said to look the other way.
I said, "huh?" . He told me to always face what I have done instead of what I have yet to do. He said that the only time I should face what I have yet to do is when i was moving toward the next hole. I thought he was crazy.
The next day I planted nearly three times the number of trees and they were exactly the way he wanted them. At the end of the day he patted me on the back and gave me a snickers bar. He said I deserved it.
Here's the moral to the story.

You are my kind of storyteller! Love the analogy of home building compared to the Online Business building project. I have thought of that many times as I have built a house before from the ground up! The only two working on the project was my brother and myself.
It was a very large project much like the online business building project I have going right now! Only difference? Yeah I have much more help and direction than my brother and I had as we built a house together.
Hope to see you around the WA!
