Use Anchor Texts Naturally

Google loves backlinks generated naturally rather than links built by spamming. So, natural backlinks are more indexed. If identical keywords are used in several anchor text locations, Google considers this as link spamming and it’s subject to severe penalty.

Thus, in generating backlinks, make sure you use different keywords in the different anchor text locations. So, be conscious of this while using anchor texts in high PR online forums.

Use Your Content Keywords as Anchor Texts

If the keywords selected for your content are judiciously used in anchor text locations, you’ll certainly improve your Google PageRank for specific keywords.

But if irrelevant keywords are used in anchor texts, either intentionally or the other way round, you’ll not improve your search ranking.

Add Relevant Links as Anchor Texts

While using anchor texts, never add irrelevant links. Do not link your readers to an irrelevant page because this leads to a bad user experience for those readers on your site and you won’t receive rankings for that.

To make the most out of anchor text usage, link readers only to pages complementary to those they are linked from.

Thanks for this article highlighting the importance of anchor texts. I have a question. About how many such anchor texts would you recommend as appropriate for a blog post of about 2000 words. Thanks again.

Thanks for stopping by, Chris! Kudos to you for reading this training piece! Yes, anchor texts play a significant role in building SEO as discussed in this tutorial, but it mustn't be abused lest you hurt your ranking the other way round.

While using anchor texts within posts on your blog or outside your blog, like in forum posts or blog comments, use it wisely and decently, not using more than 8-12 anchor texts in a blog article of 1500-2000 words with 80% of anchor texts pointing back to pages of your blog (Incoming internal links) and the rest pointing to external blogs (Outgoing internal links).

And when used outside your blog like in a high PR forum and so on, use 2-3 anchor texts pointing back to your blog (high-quality backlinks) to avoid getting penalized for link spamming.

Thanks for asking, brother! Wish you much success in your online endeavors!
