We are all here to build our business. Therefore Productivity Matters!

One of the struggles we all faced is Doing More With What We Have.

This tutorial is a way you can do more by using a method that is used extensively in project management called SPRINT or AGILE SCRUM.

For our purpose, just know it as SPRINT.

Let's get some background information out of the way and we will jump straight in.

Definition:

Sprint is one timeboxed iteration of a continuous development cycle. Within a Sprint, planned amount of work has to be completed by the team and made ready for review. The term is mainly used in Scrum Agile methodology but somewhat basic idea of Kanban continuous delivery is also essence of Sprint Scrum.

For our purpose, I have contextualised this for the benefit of the Individual Entrepreneur.

This application is based on the "time boxed iteration of a continuous cycle."

Sprint literal meaning is a short race at full speed.

You cannot run a marathon at full speed. Therefore you cannot work on a 5,000 words article at full speed too. This is the what I have created this SPRINT for.

Therefore the objective of this tutorial is to create a SPRINT to complete the task of writing a 5,000 words article.

To do this, we will perform the following steps.

Step 1: Breakdown the tasks

Step 2: Schedule the tasks

Step 3: Perform the tasks

Step 4: Review the Sprint

Let's get started with Step 1.

Stanley,
Thanks for a great article. When I worked for a software development company, when used Sprints and Agile for our development. It never even occurred to me to use it in my personal and professional life. It was always something to only be used in software development.

Thanks for opening my eyes.

This is so helpful not only for self-accountability, but also to keep from getting burnt out and/or making mistakes. I think it's also beneficial for the editing process. Thanks for this tip!

Aliece, you can use the methodology in many ways. The key factor is “time boxing.” 20 minutes is best because our brain’s attention span is 18 minutes, therefore the sprint is design based on what our attention span is. This is scientific and it is used by the creators of Ted Talk to make every speech 18 minutes in length.

Oh, wow! That's so amazing. (As an aside, I'm always amazed at the patience, diligence, and dedication there is to conduct studies of any nature.)

I think if you're like me, and filled with lots of ideas at once, you probably would do well with bullets and jotting down your ideas. It also helps to ensure your thoughts are fully developed. You can do it! :-)

I personally read some news as a precursor to ideas,

If i find something that not necessary prompts me but inspires me in another aspect i will start writing.

To me letting my ideas flow without multitasking for example or temporary distraction or interruption, research, photos etc...is the way to add value and character to my particular style

After writing i will go back at the draft and make pointers, specific significant paragraphs and or highlights,
add :
references
photos
videos

To best support these thoughts,
luckily for me i am in china
so getting my very own photo's are not a problem

This works for me scaling things down to specifics before i start to write kills my flair
