So now you know what to do when someone asks you for feedback, but you are still receiving shallow pointless feedback on your website? Kinda sucks right?

Well here's what I do... I take note of the personalities of the members here at Wealthy Affiliate. I remember who the hard nuts are, the ones that dosh out criticism with ease.

I take note of the people that have asked me for feedback and were grateful for the help I gave them.

I remember who gives me great feedback and I improve my website and I go back for more.

Like I said I have basically given up on the Site Feedback feature which is sad because I would love to continue helping others... but from my perspective I am a giver there and I get nothing in return. I need to remember to look after myself here too.

How to Ask for Constructive Criticism

Firstly I find a member at Wealthy Affiliate that I admire and respect. I then send a private message and I request feedback.

I request CONSTRUCTIVE CRITICISM and make that clear to the member I am asking. I also give a brief explanation of what type of criticism I am wanting or what my immediate goals are. What am I trying to achieve?

This makes is easier for the member to know what I am after and it makes it easier to give feedback.

I also thank them in advance AND I say I don't expect them to give of their time to go to the effort of helping me out, there is no obligation to do so but it would be appreciated.

You may ask why I add in this last bit? Well my WA ranking has been getting higher and I find more members contacting me in private for help.... and I am happy to help in most cases.

I just find myself getting a little uptight when I get a message that reads something like:

"Hi There,I need feedback/comments/ advice on ******. Get back to me as soon as possible."

So I'll tell you that this sort of thing doesn't go down too well with me... I am busy and I don't like being told what to do and how fast to do it for someone else.

I also don't appreciate it when I get asked for help, I happily give it and I get used over and over again daily like a full time personal coach.

I am not employed by WA, I am not site support, I am not your coach! I am a member here just like you trying to run my online business.

I will help others with pleasure but please do it with kindness and respect.

I searched for extra training, on this subject/activity just to see what could be added if anything to Kyles training video. Plus, he has two topics on one video. It is sometimes hard to get the videos to advance to a specific section without having to rewatch the whole thing.

It was great to see your training available. Took a few notes for the future and to remind me each time going forward with reviewing.

Thank you for your insight, cautions and personal view. Duly noted. :)

As I began Lesson 2, the first task was to transfer my website from siterubix.com domain to a new domain of my own. I did that. Now I and attempting to get feedback on my site, SelfHelpAdvisory@innovativeaccretion.com. I have provided feedback to requests and have requested feedback on my site. That was two days ago. I have not gotten a response. Do I need too be back on the WA siterubic.com domain to get feedback?

Thanks, Art

No you will be able to get feedback on your new domain I am sure, if you have not yet received your feedback maybe there was a glitch in the system, just pop site support a question and I am sure they will be able to resolve it for you.

That's exactly what I want, too. I do think constructive criticism should be given tactfully and respectfully, though. And if you notice something that needs fixing, make a few suggestions. Don't just say, "what a bunch of nonsense" and expect me to be able to use that criticism to make it better. Help me! Tell me what I can do. Give me practical advice. Point me in the direction of a good tutorial. If you can't help, just leave a great comment at the bottom of one of my posts. I won't be offended.

Hi Lynne,
Thanks for the great training. I am working my way through all of yours. I really like the professional way you have your image tucked in. I have SO much to learn.
You mentioned looking at people's websites. Is there a list of your websites or youtube channels somewhere on WA?
Tech part aside.
Vasbyt boere and I hope things are going well for you.
I am as South African as koeksusters, but live in the UK.
Take care,

I completely agree. I also try my best to give detailed constructive feedback and once in a while I see websites that are just awesome. In those cases I tell them in detail of what I like and why. I am also looking for constructive feedback and detailed feedback.

I have a long way to go on my website, but I want to make sure that my content is for REAL people and if I am gaining their trust through my content.

I wish there was a comment box I could write in to ask for specific areas I want feedback in, instead of just "content".

I am definitely going to take your advice. Thank you for sharing.

I am on Course 3, Lesson 1 and before I move on I would love to know if my website is meeting the following criteria:

“This is a people business and you are dealing with REAL people.

REAL people are coming to your site.
REAL people are reading your content.
REAL people are going to take action if they trust yet.”

So, I would love to know if my content connects with REAL people. I don’t want to sound too “matter of fact”. Thanks again!

Oh yes I love your website.. oh wait I am not supposed to say that hahaha.

Your website is written for real people, so if that is the specific feedback you are looking for you are on the right track for sure. And I wouldn't just say that. I had a look at a good few articles.

Just a note, there are some menu items that are empty, Your menu item store homemade food is either not working or you haven't added anything into the drop down menu?

A whole stack of your recipes for stage 1 grain, stage 2 grain etc there is no page to be found. I am assuming you know these are empty?

This is not good for visitors when they arrive, plus if people click around and there are no pages existing this can negatively impact your ranking.

Best to only add pages when you have the content for them :)

I would really advise you add an about me widget to your side bar...if you are wanting to focus on being real and connecting with your audience that is a great way to start. I'm not sure if your theme comes with an about me widget or not but you can check that out. If it doesn't you can get a plugin for one.. like Ultimate Widgets Light.... that's what I've used on my one website.

Hahaha Thank you! :)
I made the following changes:

I removed everything from the menu that isn't complete and I will add those pages to the menu as I go.

I moved my About Rachel page to the far left of my menu bar.

I added the About Rachel to the top of my side bar.

Do you think moving the About Rachel to the far left of my menu was a good move or do you think I should have left it to the far right of the menu?

I can't thank you enough!

Hi Rachel

It is a pleasure. I think add your about page to the far right.

My reasoning is that your most NB pages should be on the right, that is where people look first.

People will always look for your about page anyway. Did you know it will be one of your highest viewed pages?
