We all look forward to receiving comments from fellow WAers and so it should be. The problem is that you often get irrelevant comments and comments that belong more on the site feedback platform than on the site comments platform.

These comments are often left by our newer, inexperienced WA members so I thought that I would jot down a "no holds barred" training for newbies and those who have maybe missed the boat.

I actually stopped using site comments for awhile because of this. I've started again because it's part of my publishing new posts routine (along with various social media, etc.) but you're absolutely right about this being a problem, and thanks for the training.

Hi Jay, I too was considering not using the system but that would be my loss. I felt the answer would rather be to try and raise awareness and try to address the issue. That way we all benefit.

Spot on Bryan. Comments should not appear to be prearranged or false.

An effective critique should consist of , Good points, Bad points and ways to improve. If done by a subject matter expert and received by a motivated student this is an effective way to critique.

Agreed in general, but when you are "Commenting " on a site, critique on the site and language etc is best kept for SiteFeedback.

Negative feedback in a product or point of view offers an opportunity to promote you product and possibly change the commentator's point of view but, I would rather hit "the Button" and pass rather than making negative comments on this platform. Maybe a private PM would help.

Best regards

You are right about negative feed back. Discretion in pointing out an error is necessary. Pointing out spelling or grammar errors should be accepted as effective instruction. I see no reason to be rude during a critique.

I am getting a lot of poor quality comment At the minute so hopefully this will help! I have never had to disapprove so many comments.

Even experienced members seem to be failing at this and give me Semi poor comments. They have a semblance of structure but are still commenting on layout design and other stuff a natural person would not say. I have been editing these but in the future I will just Dis approve ...they should know better.

I have two comments awaiting approval right now which are perfect.

Hi Stephen, I believe that we need to help each other right where there is a need, in a manner that is conducive to mutual respect.. That way we all grow and keep WA at the standard Kyle and Carson have striven for.

Correct me if I'm wrong, are you looking for stronger sentence structure and a higher vocabulary? Sometimes it feels as if I need need to take English 101 again.
