SEO Practices

Here are some significant SEO best practices to help avoid Google penalties:

1 - Always Publish Quality Content

While SEO focuses on techniques for optimizing your web pages for the best possible ranking, try not to lose focus on the primary goal for creating the contents – provide relevant information to your audience. But most times, we notice that this is lacking in most posts we read online.

There is a tendency for you to want to play catch up, just to have your website swell with a lot of contents. While this isn't a bad idea, it's much better to churn out high-quality content than having so much quantity without quality.

One of the advantages of maintaining high-quality content is the tendency for visitors to stay longer on your website. They are able to browse through other quality posts because you have them on your website.

I'll tell you what, the longer they stay the lower your bounce rate and the better for your search ranking.

2 - Build Organic Links

Backlinks may not be as prominent in SEO as they used to be, but that doesn't make them less important. In fact, high-quality backlinks from authority sites will do your site much better than most other SEO actions you take.

A backlink is a concept that Google uses to measure the trustworthiness of your website and web pages.

Think about it this way; you are planning to buy a new pair of shoes but you do not know which of the brands to go for. There are actually 3 brands you have shortlisted but there's a budget for only one pair of shoes.

And suddenly you get a message from someone you look up to telling you to opt for a particular brand out of the 3 options. What would be your next reaction concerning buying the shoes?

For myself and many others alike, I would opt for the recommended brand because the advice came from someone I trust. That's what high-quality backlinks do to any sites that they are linked to.

So Google algorithm can form an opinion of your site by simply analyzing the backlinks to it. And this leads to better search ranking for your site and web pages on its SERP (Search Engine Results Pages).

However, there are those, in some cases SEO professionals, who advise you to purchase backlinks for your site. While this may give your search ranking some immediate boost, Google will surely find you out and penalize you for doing such.

It's clear that building organic backlinks profile may seem a slow process but it gives you better results in the long run.

Good information, Israel. I'm not familiar with Mobile Interstitial Ads-- can you explain or show examples?

Hey DianeK, mobile interstitial ads are full-screen advertisements that cover their host app's interface.
