There is more to networking than finding business contacts. Having a strong community and an effective social engine also helps you to keep motivated.
Steps 5: Help Others
It is extremely difficult to not move forward yourself when you are helping others. Giving is grounding. It also helps you to learn and whatever good you invest will eventually come back to you.
These actions and responses are extremely motivating because they intrinsically makes you feel good about yourself. There is a physical benifit to doing good and helping others that contributes to your own movement forward.
Step 6: Be Kind To Yourself
This is one of the biggest de-motivators, yourself. Are you inclined to be overly hard on yourself and unforgiving when you do not achieve all that you want to?
That is self-defeating.
Taking time to recognise your successes, no matter how small, and to celebrate those moments is imperative. Take time out to treat yourself to the little things a glass of wine, a special cup of coffee, a walk in the park, a laugh with a friend, time with your loved ones.
You may usually think of kndness as being done to others without recognise that you also have needs of your own.
Rest when you need to. Plan for quiet moments with yourself. Enjoy your time with you.
Remember, if you do not take care of yourself first, you will not be in a good place or frame of mind to achieve your goals or be of any help to others.
Keeping motivated requires thought and action. Most of all, it requires you to be positively involved in your life, goals and dreams.
