Wikipedia page editors are simply individuals who voluntarily contribute to making the contents on Wikipedia more efficient or adequate for its users. Although anyone is eligible to be an editor on Wikipedia without creating an account, there are lay down principles editors or writers must follow. If an editor breaches any of these rules, their articles or editing is likely to be deleted or disregarded.
Mainly, there are five major pillars of Wikipedia, which every editor must adhere to, and we will discuss it below.
ENCYCLOPEDIA:
Wikipedia is very conscious of its brand. Hence, any alteration of the website's use is frowned at. Wikipedia is an encyclopedia that has merged the characteristics of general and specialized encyclopedias. Many people have mistaken the web site as other forms of websites that abound today. Many people have mistaken Wikipedia to be an advertising, web directory, dictionary, soapbox website.
NEUTRALITY:
All Wikipedia editors should understand that all articles are objectively presented. The information that is published on Wikipedia is that which are factual. Contributors' perspectives, opinions, experiences are not encouraged. Also, the website fosters references. So, every published article must have a valid and credible source. In this case, there are no debates. Regarding controversial topics, all the multiple points of view are discussed accurately without advocacy for a particular perspective.
