We are now going to Create a Responsive Ad Unit. Why a Responsive Ad? Because responsive ads automatically adapt to fit the page layout of a wide range of devices.
Click New Add Unit
The options you can Choose from are : Text & Display Ads, In-Feed Ads and In-Article Ads.
We are going to choose Text & Display Ads
Choose a name for your Ad (be descriptive)
Choose Ad Size. We are going to choose Responsive.
Choose Ad Type: Text & Display Ads. Displaying both text and display ads allows you to earn more.
Choose Text Ad Style (Optional). I personally left as is.
Choose Custom Channels (Optional). I personally left as is.
If no ads available (Leave as default). I left this as default as well.
Click Save and Get Code
Your Ad Code should now be generated

In AdSense you have to choose a backup ad which will show if no ad is available. This is where I place my Amazon Affiliate Ad code. This way when Ad Sense isn't showing I can always count on Amazon.
