You can leverage the videos here within Wealthy Affiliate to help benefit the experience on your website for your visitors and in the process, generate a lot of leads.

In this video I am going to walk you through the process of creating a blog post that is centric to a video (how to effectively incorporate the "idea" into your content), how to capture the video image, how to add the video into your page, and how to add your affiliate link to the image.

If you have any questions about adding videos to your website or the most effective techniques to do so, please leave your questions below and I will help you out! :)

When you put the image of the video in your article along with the affiliate link, is it just the video that shows up or does the affiliate link take the reader away from my article to the original author's article?

If it takes the reader to the original author's article, is that why we don't get credit if someone click on a link to join WA? I don't understand what it means when Kyle says you can get credit through the cookies.

If I don't get credit that means the referral can go to the original author and not to me necause they joined through a link on the original page and not my article?

Just about every page of content here at WA has it's own affiliate link that you can link to from your website. When you use this affiliate link and someone clicks on it, it will take them to the page you took that link from, and because you used the affiliate link, you will get credit if that referral joins up at WA.

As an example, this page we're on right now has an affiliate link. If you wrote an article and used that affiliate link, clicking on the link would take the reader to this page. And because your affiliate link is specific to you, if from this page they decide to follow the prompts and join WA at any time, you will get credit for that referral.

So, what is Kyle talking about when he says you get credits from the cookies?

I always understood it as we would get credit for referrals because our affiliate code is in the link.

Thanks for your response Eric.
Reply
ericcantu Premium
Yes. That's correct. Your affiliate code is specific to you and when the reader clicks through it a cookie is placed that acts like a tracker. Now when they join up, it tracks back to you and you get credit because they went through your affiliate link.

Kyle, That was a great video! My question is ..How are you creating the screenshare videos? Did you record the video on Youtube, then unlist it, or how are the videos created? Where are the videos hosted?
Reply

Good Questions Tiffany. If you want to use this video on your blog or in a post you will see just under the video above, an affiliate link button. If you click that you should get your own ID# in the link. I think the videos are hosted here and some on youtube. Not sure what program Kyle uses to create the videos as there are a few you can get.

Thanks MsMerry! I have seen the affiliate link on the videos which is AWESOME. I am excited to make videos and use this option, but I want to know Kyle's process for adding video. Does he do it in Youtube or where?
Reply

Probably from his own computer. There are programs you can get and use on your computer and then upload from there. Only Kyle can answer that one for sure :). Just thinking he may not see your question as they are off to Vegas very soon, but then again he probably is still keeping an eye on us from afar. LoL

Ok, so you are not actually putting a video on your site, you are putting a picture and then connecting it to an affiliate link that when they click on it takes them to the video? Am I getting that correct?
Reply
MsMerry Premium
You could do that, but you can also embed the video in your post. You would be using the text or HTML not visual to insert the code. This is where you are writing your post. Just above and to your left is the 'toggle' switch.I usually put a few stars where I want to embed video or banner so I know where it is. :) Click on Save or Update and then switch back to visual and see if it is showing. Hope this helps a bit.
Reply
phoeby123 Premium
Yes. You are not embedding a video on your site. Simply, it is incorporating a video image + your affiliate link. Users click on it, redirected to WA website (with your affiliate link cookie) so once they review the video and take action, you'll receive credit for it.

Kyle says we cannot share the Premium videos since people won't be able to see them. He asks us to share videos in Getting Started. Now that's slightly confusing. Anyway, the video here seems a bit old looking at the WA dashboard shown although it is an awesome one. But my question is: can we use videos (the walk-through ones) in the certification other than those in Getting Started (level-1)? For instance, a video in Level 2?
Reply
imthedamo Premium
My guess would be only ones that are not premium so only level one.
Reply
phakacha8 Premium
We are not allowed to share videos from the training but we can incorporate webinars from Jay, Magistudios. Wait for more response.
Reply
sukumarth Premium
I thought on the contrary. I thought we could share affiliate links of training videos (walk-through ones) but not Jay's webinar videos. I don't think Jay's videos can be shared; that seems the ultimate Premium advantage only. I think we are allowed to share any blog post though. But on second thoughts, I think it makes sense since starter members are allowed only till the "Get Started Here" (Level 1) of both certification as well as Bootcamp.
Reply
Kyle Premium
This means "link" to the videos through the affiliate link. When someone visits the page, it will encourage them to "sign up" to watch the video, which is a really good hook.

People that are starter and join as a Starter will obviously be able to watch those videos, the videos that are Premium, will obviously require someone to join as a Premium.

It can just be a good hook to get people to join as a Starter.

When I do this it only plays a few seconds then defaults to a sign up page. This is where I got confused about what can and can't be shared. In another section of training is stated that since videos are only seen as one page they were OK to share. I have already totally removed one blog post that was centered around a video because of this. So now, I need to be sure of exactly what I can post as far as videos before I go any further.
Reply
wesivins Premium
So, If we are using wealthy affiliate videos on our webpage our page visitor only sees a few seconds of it and then is redirected to a sign up page? Is that how the WA video sharing works?

Is it used as a tease to make them want click through to the starter membership to see the entire video?

I would really like an answer on this, so I will know how to proceed with using the WA videos approach.

the easiest way to see if the content is premium or not is to use the search bar up top to search for your content and anything not marked "premium" is good to use. there's more out there that's usable outside of the "Get Started" courses.

I must be missing something here. I do not see what you are referring to when you say marked as premium in the search.

I see lists populated but no distinction on what is premium and what is not. Any help you are will to give to point me in the right direction would be greatly appreciated.
Reply

does this only apply to starter members?
Reply
ericcantu Premium
If I type in "how to" in the search bar at the top and wait, a whole list of related content appears. Around half are marked as "premium". If you're not seeing this when you type the same thing it's possible that as a starter member the list that poplulates only shows free content and no premium content st all.

Are music videos a good idea for my post?
Reply
stephhill Premium
As long as the music videos can be tied into your content, are relevant and will add value to your article. If you are wanting to put in a music video, just for the sake of a favorite song you like, then no, but if it adds value and is relevant to the content. I would not upload it to your WordPress site, however. I would upload it to YouTube or Vimeo and then use the embed code in your post.

You should create your own video or ask permission with Kyle in order use his video. Only few videos like "how to make website in 30 seconds" etc. can be use in your website from WA. I don't know at the moment in which level of course are you. But you will even learn to create the video and use the video from WA in upcoming courses.
If you are asking can you use that video as mention in this course as above, then sure that you can use as Kyle guided you in the course.

Kduhl, When you say linked through Kyle, do you mean his affiliate link? You can use anything in Wealthy Affiliate on your website. Tutorials, videos etc. Look above the video and you'll see an affiliate button with a little chainlink. That is your affiliate link, and you can click on that when you are using the video on your website, and when someone watches it, and signs up with WA, you get the credit. Kyle says in his training that you can do this. He explains it in bootcamp course 1. I'm not sure what lesson. I hope this helps. Let me know if I need to clarify anything.

Reply
TheHammer Premium
Yes you can do it the same way as for photo's or you can embed them. Uploading videos like photos is going to take a lot of space on the hosting server which could cause a problem. Depends how much space as been sectioned off for you.

To solve this you can either upload your videos to youtube or vimeo and then embed them. Or you could upload them to video hosting services.

To answer your question regarding the time it takes to index an article. I do not have a specific answer for you because I have no idea to be honest. :)

Hello, i ll like to know, even tho i know i cant make a tutorial until i have 3 months on premium, but if im targeting spañish market, could i star making videos for the free courses and get them into WA? itll just be the same video, after you guys check it out ofcourse, same things but in spanish, that way i could get spanish market into wa, or i definilly need to waith the 3 monts?
Reply
boomergp08 Premium
You will need to wait 3 months regardless if it is for the Spanish market or not.
Reply
DeRaj Premium
I think that is not so much good idea. Because even you get the referrals who only understand Spanish language then after it is hard to get sales from them. Because WA is totally in English language. So I think if someone can't understand English Language then for them WA is not so much helpful. I think so. But may be google chrome translate can help them to learn. But Google chrome also only can translate words in WA but can't translate the video language. So I think if you do it then also you can't get good conversion rate according to your hard work and input.
Reply
goli Premium
I think you can actually looking at it the rong way, if i translate all the courses, and preatty much the hard work will be the videos that i had to make, then for an effort of maybe 6 months a full new market will opend, i agree they wont have the full potential, since there still a lot of info out site the courses, but its a star, then whit more spanish plp wa could star getting trainings and everything else en spanish.
I actually thing the hardest part will be whit the wa plataform, will have to be a spanish live chat? does WA interested on it? Will it be to much work?
How many active spanish plp will there be or ill have to be there all day long alon?
Just an idea, im thinking to get the free courses and see how it works and how WA can help, if it doesnt work then will be no point to keep it up, but thanx a lot for your opinion :)
Reply
DeRaj Premium
OK then wait Kyle for the reply about spanish live chat etc. I just give my opinion before. But also if you are ready to do the hard work, then sure it will bring some potential. I'm only comparing between the benefit that you get and the hard work and time effort you put. In same time if you do other things, you can achieve much more. I'm only saying that. But if you have decided to do it, then also not bad. Sure it will give some benefit to you.

Your WA Link is the Video URL within WA. In the video page itself you click on the 'Affiliate Link' at the top and the link that's provided there will be used as the embedded link in your picture.

When you click on the picture it takes the person to WA, to the video page. These are the same, the video page is within WA.

Margie, take a screen capture of the video and save it to your computer. On your site, when you choose 'Add Media' you get the option to upload images from your computer. Upload what you just saved as the video IMAGE, and then on the right where you have an option what to link the image to, choose custom URL and place YOUR WA affiliate link.
You only use one URL, the affiliate one.

Hope that's what you were asking.

I noticed in the video that your are using your affiliate link in the image. I hate to rehash an old topic, but is there a guideline when we can use affiliate links directly and when we should create a pretty link to mask the affiliate link?

Also, can you elaborate on what the image Alt Text does and, if I change an Alt Text for an image I have already used in a page, do I have to reinsert the image in the page?

The clean link is used for social media, for example Twitter only allows 140 characters (these include spaces)

You want to be able to let people know why they should follow the link.

Tip: keep it your text very friendly. Example for this article (in the video) can be: I found this cool video about wordpress! *add shortlink*

Partial answer to the second question try this: go to google and type in the allt text he showed you. Then click on images at google and you will see all kinds of pictures pop up, these have some of the words in the alt text. Because Google treats every word as a single keyword. This is how I find images when I write about something.

I hope this comment was of any value to you and enjoy your week.

Another excellent training, Kyle. When visitors to my site click on the video added to my web page, will they have access to my dashboard? I ask because I do when I click on the video to check the link.

(I never know how those darn cyberfaires work behind the scenes, LOL)

Hi - no, only you have access to your dashboard.

They will only see what you are linking to.

All the best, Mark

Hi Rebecca.

I don't want to sound all techy on you (I've been known to) but websites know who you are, through using cookies etc - and from you logging into them. So it's easy for them to track you. What they 100% don't do, unless they are unscrupulous (which WA is not), is show you information which only YOU should know about.

If this helps, WA is 100% trustworthy imho,

All the best, Mark

Well thank you very much for that information, Mark. Having worked with a number of affiliate programs I get the "cookie" thing. But since I haven't experienced the same with other affiliates that I promote when checking the links I have created, I found myself in a state of preponderance. Thanks for clearing up a bit of the fog, Mark.

The Video was great. I created a discussion. If the video's Affiliate Link is use, couldn't the viewer view the Video from WA page?
Reply
judebanks Premium
Yes, by using the affiliate link from the drop down menu located just under Kyle's name (above the video), the visitor will be sent to the WA video page and will view there video from the WA site. Just be sure to use the right link, e.g.

Kyle, It would've been great to also show how to do the screen shot to members that don't know how this is done. I had a problem pasting it into MSpaint. I got a message saying it couldn't process that type of file, or something to that affect.

There's training on the WA site for doing screen captures.

James did one recently on using Paint:

How do you capture a picture of the video screenshot?
Reply
boomergp08 Premium
What I do on my PC is while viewing the video before I click on the play arrow, like if you were to just scroll up to the video above, I would then do a screen capture.

1) On the PC that would be - Hold down the Shift Key and then press the Prt Sc (Print Screen) Key.

2) Then I go into MS Paint and paste the screen capture by holding down the Ctrl (Control) Key and then press the V Key
(Ctrl+V on a PC is the key combination to Paste and Ctrl+C is to Copy)

3) Then in MS Paint I crop the image down so only the rectangle of the video screen is showing and then I save that cropped down image.

That's it, Done!

Robert provided an excellent answer. If you don't have MS Paint, you can do the same in PowerPoint. After you crop down the image, right click on it and choose "Save As Picture".

Is there any possibility to embed the "Walk Through" video
Reply
Kyle Premium
You cannot embed videos from WA, but you can share them via your affiliate link. You could take a screen capture of the video and link that from your website so it would look like you are linking the video.

I was just looking around for a video to put on my building websites page,I haven't got this far in my lessons yet but the video was still helpful but I think it is to advanced to put on my page.I need the one that talks about building a website in 30seconds.How could I get that one?

Here is that video:

https://my.wealthyaffiliate.com/training/create-a-website-in-under-30-seconds

You will simply need to grab your Affiliate Link when within that video and you will be able to share it (and earn credit) from the outside world.

Another question for you is in this video you said you up loaded the image of the video from WA or from your hard drive. I tried to right click and save the image but when I did I only get an image of the play button arrow and not the full video image. How do I get the full image to place on my site to have the customer click to come to the actual video here at WA?
Reply
Kyle Premium
From my harddrive. You can take a screencapture of any video here at WA, upload it, and link to it using your Affiliate Link from that specific resource. That is all I do. ;)

With each video there is an Affiliate Link button at the top, this is where you grab the code to send people directly to WA.

Hi Kyle, Question for you. On your scam site I noticed and again in this video it reminded me that you have a line below each heading breaking up the heading from your written content. I know in Wordpress you can put a page break or add more but if I do this it does not give me the gray line like the one I see on your Scam site. I like the line and how it breaks up the content for ease of reading, how do I get that line on my site? Or is this a feature of the theme you are using?
Reply
Kyle Premium
You will add this within the code. It is called a horizontal rule. The code for this is:

<hr>

Anywhere you add that there will be this line.
Reply
gbpack Premium
Super, I will try this. I don't know code very well but used it in the text editor many times for different things so now that I know this it will certainly make my pages/post look nicer I am sure. I love this place! ;-)

OK, I am working on two sites today and one site I tried this on worked great, nice line break and it looks good. I go over to the other site and after putting <hr> in the text field I then looked at the visual and all looks good then I pressed preview and it shows a rectangle box instead of a line. What could this be? maybe the theme makes it do this?

And one last thing Kyle, I can't believe you answer so many questions all the time. With all the peeps on WA how do you get anything else done?

Hi Kyle...I am a little confused. in this video you talk about using your "long WA affiliate link" explaining that the short link leads to Google. I'm still not clear on how this works with "Pretty Link" that you recommended in an earlier training. I also don't get what you mean by "Premium Videos" to use which are different than the "Getting Started Videos" . Are you saying that premium videos convert better because the cookies are set up with WA as opposed to embedded YouTube videos so don't use the getting started videos within individual website content?
Reply
Kyle Premium
Premium videos dont' convert any better no, but you can definitely leverage the "idea" of them and let people know of some things they will get if they do join premium. There are 100's of hours of Premium videos, any of which could be used as a bonus if someone joins.

Pretty Link simply "masks" the affiliate link, so it looks a bit cleaner. You don't have to use it.

Can I just give the link instead of embedding? Then what happens to the affiliate link?
Reply
Kyle Premium
Yes, you can give out affiliate links if you like directly with embedded text without link to the video.

I used snagit for this. Are you on a Mac or a PC, there are free functions built into this. You can also use droplr.com (install it) as it will have a screencapture tool built in and it is free.

Oh, okay thanks. I do have a PC. Windows 7. There is probably a tutorial somewhere on WA, I just couldn't find it.

So Kyle how do we NOT embed the video so that we can get credit when someone does click on the video? Or maybe I spaced out somewhere during your video?
Reply
Kyle Premium
Do exactly what I did. You are actually embedding an image, and then linking from the image to the actual video (training resource) at WA through your affiliate link, so you do get full credit.

Thanks for this video Kyle. I'm not a "techie" and while I certainly appreciate the value of adding a video to a blog post, it's the kind of thing I find very difficult to do so training like this is essential for me. Thanks again.

No problem Tom, glad this could add some clarity for you. Obviously adding a Youtube video will be very different than this, but if you are promoting WA this is a very effective technique to get referrals.

This is great Kyle, lots of relevant tips in there. I didn't know that about how adding some alternate text for the image helps with ranking. Thanks for this. Robbie :)
Reply
Kyle Premium
Yeah, it can absolutely help. Unlike actual content pages where Google has a bunch of content to go off of, this and the actual file name for the image are the only things that Google can go off of when indexing it in the image search. Believe it or not, you can get a good deal of additional traffic through images.
