Comments are NOT site feedback
Now, you may argue that I am focusing a bit on the speed issue here. I described why it is imporant to write comments FAST, but why is it also important to write GOOD comments? Doesn't just ANY comment show google that there is activity on the page? Well, it does, but google uses highly efficient algorithms that do not only rate the amount of content on your page, but more importantly the quality of it.
But I'm still going to say that you can save a lot of time by understanding what a comment is about, and by understanding that leaving a comment is by no means the same as leaving site feedback. You may disagree with me on this one, but hear me out and leave a comment below to let me know what you think about my approach here:
While leaving site feedback is all about a thorough research and leaving helpful, actionable feedback for a website's author, a comment is more about resembling a "normal" visitor's behaviour and leaving some, ideally positive and helpful response for the author but more importantly OTHER VISITORS. Hence, it is okay to treat the author's content the way other visitors would do to:
- Scan the article for what is important to you
- Find a section that grabs your attention
- Think about it
- You're done!
In my opinion, you do not have to go through a full fledges, in-depth research on the subject the author is writing about, or go through his entire website in order to leave a high quality comment!
