I just discovered reCAPTCHA from Google and I want to give you more information about it. You probably already know about CAPTCHA which is a way to avoid scams in your comments? The problem is that many bots are now becoming very good to overcome CAPTCHA. They are able to decrypt images and find the password in it.
reCAPTCHA is doing the same thing as a CAPTCHA, but in a different way. Instead of using an image with a password hidden it it, you only have to click in a checkbox! How does it works? Well... Google will not reveal it of course, to make sure bots developers won't create a bot to overcome it.
The speculations are that reCAPTCHA is looking at some of your habbits, cookies, mouse displacement, position of your click in the checkbox, etc. Of course, it is just a speculation, but reCAPTCHA is able to define a risk level to define if you are a bot or not.
At the end, we don't need to know how it works, we only want it to work! And no more hard time decrypting CAPTCHA images!
