I've once posted a post, sometimes ago, in which I spoke strongly about Google ranking signals. There I analyzed the top three ranking signals in Google's search algorithm which are content, links, and RankBrain.

In an interview conducted then with one of the research analysts in Google, it was disclosed that content and links are the top two ranking signals meaning that content is king and links are an eminently-crucial ranking signal. The research analyst never mentioned which of these two ranking signals was the top most, and till today, content and links remain the top two ranking signals.
