Upon activation, you'll find a new "WordPress Popular Posts" menu item under "Settings" ... You'll see thre tabs (links): Stats, Tools and Parameters.

On the stats screen you'll be able to view your stats - Most Viewed, Most Commented, Trending Now, Hall of Fame - for a given time period:


The Tools tab will allow you to configure various settings: default thumbnail image, caching options, link behavior and style.

Finally, the Parameters tab contains a list with several parameters that will help you to customize the final outcome when you are using a shortcode to display your most commented posts in a given post or page. Yes, that means, that you can showcase your most popular posts wherever you want ...

In other words, you can use the plugin in two different ways:

  • to display your most commented posts in the Wordpress sidebar (widget)
  • to display your most popular posts within any post or page (shortcode)

I do have one question. I'm not sure where right now but I recall hearing somewhere that you should have only five plugins activated at one time is this true and how do I decide which ones.
