When to Comment on Blogs
What is this all about? Why does time matter so much in commenting on blogs for link building? Is it strange? Not to worry, I’ll expatiate that to you.
Of course, you know that Google loves the freshness factor in content more than almost-outdated, old content. Thus, search engines prefer the links coming from fresh content to those coming from very old or outdated content, but pages would have to be indexed first even though it’s fresh.
To ensure you get direct traffic from that specific blog, you’ll have to leave your relevant comment as soon as the content is published on the blog. This is because the generality of people do read the content plus only the first set of comments that come in after publishing.
What to Comment
The next important step to take is getting to know what to comment about. Part of the reasons search engines stopped following comments was that most people abused this by posting tons of spam comments on blogs with the selfish motive of getting the SEO juice from those blogs that have ranked high in SERPs.
So, I know you wouldn't want to get caught leaving spam comments which would result in a waste of time and impossibility to get the wanted backlinks, but always keep at relevant and attention-grabbing comments that are link-worthy.
You must read the post down the page and flesh out relevant points from the content before making the comments. Your comments must be completely relevant to the content and could probably be structured as a discussion based on the topic. To write an ideal blog comment, try making it in 2-4 paragraphs and keep it descriptive but concise.
I like to comment on my favorite blogs because they are popular on the web. They're usually ranking on the first page of Google, so I just know that they're a good source for backlinks.
And if you go to that site, you'll find lots of new and relevant comments. I also learned from your post, that it's best to comment on the blog, while the post is fresh.
Because Google likes fresh and relevant content. Great for getting backlinks to your own blog! Thank you for your very helpful content.
