So ...

We are going to use a handy plugin called Google Doc Embedder.

Here it is:

https://wordpress.org/plugins/google-document-embedder/

It's a small plugin (345 KB), but let's see the usual speed tests ...

Here are my results before installing the plugin ...

... and the result after installing and activating the plugin:

So it's a big plugin, but is definitely a well-coded one ... No more comments needed ...

Now let's see how it works ...

This is awesome timing. I was thinking about this the last couple weeks. Hadn't gotten around to actually researching it yet myself.

One thing caught my eye...

On your Lesson 3 page, at the top it says "This plugin is due to be retired." I'm on mobile at the moment, so not the best screen to be digging into further info. Do you know if this is going to continue to be supported, or is changing, upgrading, etc. I would love to use a plugin like this.

Thanks, Zed.

Sounds good. Thanks so much for the reply while I'm not in front of my PC. :-)

Thanks Zed! So the document is actually loaded when the user clicks on the shortcode thus not affecting page load time. Am I correct?

No. A shortcode is not clickable ... A shortcode will execute a "command" when the page is loaded. In this case will embed a document which will appear as part of your post/page. Literally speaking the loading time can be affected but you'need really big files for that.

Thank you, thank you , thank you...
You just saved me hours of “googling”. I just published an article and tried to include a table. Needless to say it did not look pretty.
Will be putting this plugin to work today!
