Windows 10 Updates

With Windows 10 still being relatively new, there are many reasons to always keep abreast of updates being made. In this tutorial, I will walk you through how to check for updates that your computer might need and when to see when your next scheduled update will occur and how to change it if you need to. This will help you control when your computer will do its automatic updates.

Thanks Sherry. I was not sure if these mini-tutorials on the many features of Windows 10 were helpful or not. I know for me it has been such a learning curve getting familiar with the new operating system, I was thinking many others might be experiencing the same, so I wanted to pass what I have learned along the way to others.

I have gotten behind on my publishing frequency for my WA site due to all of the little issues that pop up with Windows 10.

Thanks for commenting, Means a lot.

I know how you feel. Every step is a whole new trial and error process. I use all my own photos. I have spent so much time on figuring out what program to use. The Windows photo tool does not even have a resize and people have complained since 2013 and Windows has not done anything about it. DonVan Slyke in Windows Community suggested this link for a fix. https://imageresizer.codeplex.com/ I am now resizing with ease.

Oh, and I want to say I love how you setup your tutorials so short and clear. They cut straight to the answer. Sherry

Thanks Sherry. I will have to check out that link you have on how to fix and resize photos, because I create my own photos and banners too.

Oh my gosh ... when I installed W10, it was with great hesitation. But my computer had been moving so very slowly until it was time to go ahead with the update, or trash it and get a new one (had already spent hours on it and spent hundreds on it).

Went with the update to W10. Update went smoothly and computer was working faster. It was nice!

Then the first update occurred ... and it started the same snail pace as before. Talk about frustrating.

Have been doing my best to work around it until this morning when your smiling face and your awesome blog appeared.

Followed your training and guess what? One of the updates failed. Clicked on "try again" and now it seems to be working fine (and fast) again.

You probably just saved me a thousand dollars because this computer was about to meet its end.

You totally rock!

Many thanks and God Bless!

Hi Cathy!

Well your reply makes my day. I am so glad so have saved you money, time, frustration and all of that combined. :) My experience to upgrading to Windows 10 was extremely similar to yours. It did take a while for the upgrade to complete, because it had to download, configure, upload, re-conglomerate, and whatever and at first, just like with you, everything seemed fine, then all of a sudden, the updates started and things started slowing down.

So, I spent some time and several hours doing some trial and error and research and reading up on the issues. I first tried to look here at WA for answers, but found very few. After hours of pulling my hair out and experimenting and searching through the menus of Windows 10, I did figure out much of it.

And that is why I have started creating these tutorials on Windows 10. I do haves some others recently which also might be of benefit to you:

Yep - I went over to look at your tutorials and saw everything you'd done. They are bookmarked because I've got the feeling it won't be long before W10 snags again. Truly - many thanks and God Bless!

My Windows 10 had an update the other day. I updated and now it won't let me get to my emails in the usual way. I've went back to Yahoo Mail. Not sure why it did that. But I kind of like being back at Yahoo any way. Thanks for the tutorial, it helps me understand better how it works. :)

Let me know if you need help getting back into your email the usual way you were used to. I experienced the similar problem when I my computer did one of the Windows 10 updates.

I just tried again and Windows 10 won't let me open the email. I click on the envelope icon and it just sits there. Is there a way to get it to work? Thanks for any suggestions. :)
