Search Engine Optimization (SEO) onsite and offsite

Optimizing your site can be a real struggle and, unless you have resources to use that can explain exactly how to do these things, you never know if you're doing the right thing.

An example of onsite SEO are the pictures you place inside the post. When Google's crawler visits your website, it can't see pictures but it can read the text in the title, alternate title, and the description areas.

Making sure to fill these spaces with relevant keywords can give your post a little added boost. It can make the difference between page two and page one in many cases.

An example of offsite optimization would be backlinks. The problem with backlinks is, so many people are still selling backlinks to new unsuspecting would be marketers. The issue with this is that poor backlinks can have a detrimental effect on your entire website.

Post Panda Backlinks

You need to understand the new role backlinks now play in internet marketing. When Google released their Panda update in 2011, it changed backlinks forever.

Backlinks are no longer nearly as important as they used to be. Now it's more about the quality of the backlink you have than the quantity of backlinks.

Social backlinks and comments are more important than ever. Google looks at how many people are sharing your work. This give them a better idea whether or not people are finding it useful. People don't social what they don't find useful so this is a perfect gauge for them to use. It also means you have to get involved in social networking.
