Create a list

It’s that simple really,

For your post start with one idea and write it down, from there you can expand the list for example;

If your niche is something like a parenting blog, make a list around one topic –

1.Teething

2.Sleeping patterns

3.Nappy rash

4.Toddler tantrums

5.Disciplining your child

Let’s pick toddler tantrums as your post subject, now make a list associated with this subject;

1.Hitting

2.Screaming

3.Sulking

4.Answering back

5.The triggers

6.What to do

7.The effects of the behaviour

Now you have a subject and sub headings to work from, under each heading list 3 things relating to that heading

·Hitting

·Why did they hit

·What triggered the episode

·Explain why hitting is bad

·Screaming

·Sulking

·Answering back

·The triggers

·What to do

·The effects of the behaviour

So you have seven sub headings each with 3 sub topics that is a total of 28 areas that you can cover in your post, give this a try and you will be surprised how much you can write about.

The next stage we will discuss how to put this altogether.

Great tutorial Gary, this is very useful and has already helped me with how to gather ideas for posts. I often hit a bit of a writers block!

very good ideas, thank you! I haven't published my first post yet (nearly finished though), but started to work on it in a similar pattern, whenever I have ideas I create a new post, add the topic idea to the title, if necessary also other sub-topic ideas in bulletpoints to the body of the post, and save it as draft :) this way I don't need to spend time finding my notes when I finally get to write the actual post. So far it seems to help, now my major concern is to find that 30 (+) minutes peace and quiet when I can actually work on my ideas uninterrupted :)

It's certainly a challenge and I can relate to getting some peace and quiet with my two little ones but I have developed the routine now and it really works for me. This week alone I've written 6 posts.
